So this AP year in review story just hit the wires or whatever they call the wires in the wireless era. And it contains this interesting bit of info:

Arnold Schwarzenegger left the big screen for politics. A month after Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines became his first hit in years, Schwarzenegger began a successful campaign for California governor in a chaotic recall election.

was T3 a "hit" by any definition? I mean, these are little things, but they do matter! They do!

I mean, it is very worth noting that Schwarzenegger's film career was all but over. Why don't entertainment journalists care about accuracy?

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 16:54 (twenty-one years ago)

there are those who posit that folks like that becuase entertainment journalists just becuase they were lazy & didn't want to do things like check facts, add a critical eye, research anything...

So I guess it was a hit. Terrible movie though.

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:03 (twenty-one years ago)

or was it merely a success?
(Look at me, thread with myself!)

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm glad to see this thread has been revised

lawrence kansas (lawrence kansas), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:23 (twenty-one years ago)

What's a "hit" these days anyway? The numbers are so mind-numbingly huge, that for all I know $150,000,000 might be a "flop."

Salmon Pink (Salmon Pink), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:28 (twenty-one years ago)

maybe it made it at the moon cineplex where it costs $75,000,000 per ticket?

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:29 (twenty-one years ago)

T3 had a $175,000,000 budget (according to the imdb). It made about $150 million in the US and about $277 million outside of the US (up until the first week of October) so I guess it did ok. What the fuck was Claire Danes doing in that movie?

Bryan (Bryan), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:33 (twenty-one years ago)

what the fuck is she doing in any movie other than Little Women?

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:34 (twenty-one years ago)

The bridge of her nose is delightfully wide.

Bryan (Bryan), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I watched Igby Goes Down the other day, and a; Claire is way less attractive than she was with red hair, and b; Thingy Culkin is such a scrawny git, how did he get to shag her and that mad artist woman?!

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:41 (twenty-one years ago)

a little ploy ladykillers since Rudolph Valentino have been using call a script

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:45 (twenty-one years ago)

What would be the difference if it didn't hit #1, Huckleberry?

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:46 (twenty-one years ago)

well, I think it's historically relevant that when Schwarzenegger became Governor his movie career was a joke.
