What the f***?

It appears that ovet the past few weeks, you have all gone mental or at least that the natural order of things has been completely overturned.
Calum has *finally* as good as admitted to being deliberately annoying, mothers are apparently posting naked pictures of themselves and allowing their children to see them *IN THE NAME OF "FEMINISM"* and that's only two instances of of many.
I can't help thinking that it's partly my fault as I've not been here to act as moral compass and voice of reason for the rest of you freaks. Arguably even more disturbing, looking over a few threads I have found myself agreeing with Jess about pretty much everything.

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 16:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Too late Dave. Calum is already the moral compass here, and he isn't letting go.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:02 (twenty-one years ago)

sort 'em out Dave!

Ste (Fuzzy), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Moral compass...too late. ILE has far gone into a spiraling tumble into the abyss of unnecessary. Ive noticed its decline in the few months since i began posting. At least its not Fark...of which im still banned from posting on.

El Spinktor (El Spinktor), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh dear oh dear, I know how you feel. That's why I'm left discussing phonetics and quirks of sociolinguistics. Maybe I should take that advice and start a blog...

cybele (cybele), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:04 (twenty-one years ago)

please start a blog and email me while you're at it!

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:06 (twenty-one years ago)

I blame everybody but myself

lawrence kansas (lawrence kansas), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:06 (twenty-one years ago)

We need to get together a representative from each area of the world to represent ILX, kinda like the UN. This high-level consortium will decide the future of ILX. Something needs to be done. Who's gonna be our Koffi Anan...or whatever that dudes name is.

El Spinktor (El Spinktor), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't know what's worse though. The fact that Clm roolz and the Ktty family has gone exhbtnst or the way that the ILX old guard endless moans about it.

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:07 (twenty-one years ago)

someone needs to build an ark

Kim (Kim), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm not saying they don't have a right to moan, but they also have the prerogative to ignore certain posters.

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:08 (twenty-one years ago)

And on this ark i shall put my Fluff Blitzkrieg thread and all the endless pictures of Alizee. It shall be my legacy. Timecapsule of sorts.

El Spinktor (El Spinktor), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:09 (twenty-one years ago)

i just want to bomb the place now

This is a time for action.

El Spinktor (El Spinktor), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:10 (twenty-one years ago)

joking aside, i am totally disturbed by a few threads i've seen

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:13 (twenty-one years ago)

How so? The mother/daughter posting thing? Calum rants? Or just plain too much holiday cheer?

El Spinktor (El Spinktor), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:14 (twenty-one years ago)

likewise, I am too, but you can't dictate taste, intelligence or maturity. Unless you want to make this a members-by-invite-only board or something.

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Is it my fault?

El Spinktor (El Spinktor), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:16 (twenty-one years ago)

nah, i just think more people should be banned from posting, particularly those who are 12 years old with mental parents. calum is fine - i occasionally find him mildly amusing

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:18 (twenty-one years ago)

aja amuses me, though i probably shouldn't indulge her. calum, on the other hand, ...

... it is nice to see mr. stelfox back (hi dave!) b/c i think that he's funny.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:20 (twenty-one years ago)

not to be too simplistic, but sometimes it seems that complaining about what gets posted here is like complaining about what gets written on a bathroom wall.

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Dave's insightful comments on condiments are always much appreciated.

yeah, but not even grace jerk ketchup (my latest find and a fantastic accompaniment to chicken) can save us now

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:23 (twenty-one years ago)

gay fruit pies, on the other hand

Eisbär (llamasfur), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:24 (twenty-one years ago)

off topic: y'know what would be awesome? if George Lucas digitally inserted (har har) George Clooney into every role Richard Gere ever played (cuz that picture made me think of Officer and a Gentleman).

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Fuck me, that's off-topic.

Lynskey (Lynskey), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:27 (twenty-one years ago)

'grace jerk ketchup'? That sounds great! What's the 'grace' bit about?

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:28 (twenty-one years ago)

You have it before meals.

Lynskey (Lynskey), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Excellent!

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:29 (twenty-one years ago)

hey--how much kick does that jerk ketchup actually have?

nick-grace is the jamaican company that makes the stuff. you can get grace jerk spice, grace sausages in a can, grace kola champagne, the list goes on...

cybele (cybele), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:29 (twenty-one years ago)

what i wouldn't give for a kola champagne right now...

cybele (cybele), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:30 (twenty-one years ago)

ok now this seems off topic, but wtf

The somewhat infuriating thing about this kind of thing is that it seems that in 90% of the cases - the people who roadblock any propositions regarding order guarding restrictions or acceptable rules of conduct because they are ideologically in favour of protecting freedoms etc. are the SAME people who upon chaos inevitably ensuing, quite quickly decide that some other quieter place is far more "interesting" and they STOP POSTING. skipping away, ...Tra la la la la

Kim (Kim), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:30 (twenty-one years ago)

fuck all those years of Catholic school, turns out you can buy Grace after all.

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:30 (twenty-one years ago)

it's only about 10 people who are actually bothered about any of this (at least enough to moan about it on ILX) - so what's the point of this thread either?

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Grace Jerk Ketchup, stevem!

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:31 (twenty-one years ago)

cybele, the jerk ketchup isn't too bad, but if you're used to reasonably spice jerk, then do what i do and mix it with a little bit of encona hot pepper, then it's perfect.
stevem, the point of this thread was simply so i could make a return in a bored moment and signal my (almost entirely genuine) moral outrage.

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:32 (twenty-one years ago)

All in due time...

El Spinktor (El Spinktor), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Following up on Kim's note, where is Momus these days?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Dave have you moved from Hackney to Tunbridge Wells ? ;)

i also wondered if Momus chipping in would be funny

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:34 (twenty-one years ago)

In his igloo!!!

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:34 (twenty-one years ago)

writing congratulatory letters to vice, apparently (see V10, NO10).

cybele (cybele), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:37 (twenty-one years ago)

oh don't start me on that, for god's sake...

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Momus is Aja and Calum. It's fascist to only have one obnoxious, insane internet identity.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Colour me Hitler.

Lynskey (Lynskey), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:39 (twenty-one years ago)

ah, it aint tough to rile folks up now, is it?

cybele (cybele), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:40 (twenty-one years ago)

i would take a million momus-alikes over one aja

mark p (Mark P), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:40 (twenty-one years ago)

aja is annoying from what i've seen, granted. her mother should be arrested, though.

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:43 (twenty-one years ago)

who did she kill?

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:44 (twenty-one years ago)

decency

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:45 (twenty-one years ago)

its the 21st century dave. no such thing.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:49 (twenty-one years ago)

btw dave i really liked the xlr8r cover but why'd they have to go and sell it as 'the complete history of bhangra'?!

mark p (Mark P), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:50 (twenty-one years ago)

i didn't even like the edit

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:50 (twenty-one years ago)

the pictures were cool but it read really convoluted and jerky and that wasn't my decision. a creative editorial decision, i believe

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:52 (twenty-one years ago)

is the full piece on wos?

mark p (Mark P), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:53 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, here: http://worldofstelfox.blogspot.com/2003_11_01_worldofstelfox_archive.html

-- Ned Raggett ( ned@kuci.org ), December 30th, 2003.

I am organising party games. But not here, over on ILM. I mistakenly posted the first in a new series called PW: Parallel Worlds to... a parallel board. The first PW is a world where 'everyone is like me'. It's a bit like Dungeons and Dragons. Come play, and bring a staff and cloak!

PS: I don't know quite what shocking anarchism my wanton libertarianism is being held (partially) accountable for, but I'm sure it's not as shocking or chaotic as you're making out.

Momus (Momus), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 22:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Parallel Worlds 1: A world where everybody is just like you

Momus (Momus), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 22:49 (twenty-one years ago)

my friend was eating some kind of rastafarian jerk sauce for a week and suddenly had to go to the hospital with convulsive stomach pains. so watch yourself with the jerk sauce, people.

anthony kyle monday (akmonday), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 22:59 (twenty-one years ago)

ok yes, chaos is addmittedly a bit overly dramatic so instead let's amend that to be a generally sad state of noise and annoyance - an equally bad to worse situation fwiw.

Kim (Kim), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 23:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Kim is OTM. Also, anyone who says "I don't care about ILX" should lose their right to moan on it.

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 23:53 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm drunks. how do i make popcorn without it hiting me in the eye?

Bob Shaw (Bob Shaw), Wednesday, 31 December 2003 00:31 (twenty-one years ago)

method 1: don't be drunk

method 2: contact ground control

method 3: hop inside with them while they pop

Orbit (Orbit), Wednesday, 31 December 2003 00:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Or, put the lid on.

luna (luna.c), Wednesday, 31 December 2003 00:35 (twenty-one years ago)

actually im gonna go listen to melvins and make posts i regret on ilx. popcorn is complicated right now.

Bob Shaw (Bob Shaw), Wednesday, 31 December 2003 00:36 (twenty-one years ago)

hahaha!

that's the *secret* method!

xpost

Orbit (Orbit), Wednesday, 31 December 2003 00:36 (twenty-one years ago)

i was kind of enjoying the idea of being *inside* a jiffy pop aluminum bubble...

Orbit (Orbit), Wednesday, 31 December 2003 00:37 (twenty-one years ago)

It does sound warm, if nothing else.

luna (luna.c), Wednesday, 31 December 2003 00:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Orbit (Orbit), Wednesday, 31 December 2003 00:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Could someone please explain me what's wrong with that Burmakitty picture? Or what's wrong with children seeing their parents naked? Didn't we already discuss this here?

Tuomas (Tuomas), Wednesday, 31 December 2003 08:53 (twenty-one years ago)

*pop*
*pop pop*

Orbit (Orbit), Wednesday, 31 December 2003 08:55 (twenty-one years ago)

fwiw i didn't see anything wrong with burmakitty's actions or reasoning. this does not mean however that her progeny is not annoying.

Viva La Sam (thatgirl), Wednesday, 31 December 2003 08:56 (twenty-one years ago)

ILX, as of this moment:

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 31 December 2003 09:34 (twenty-one years ago)

this place has got very wierd indeed. You know there was a thread yesterday about princess anne's dog, oozing with comedic potential - 4 answers. and instead people post to only mildly interesting calum threads. we need hanle y. and fast.

Bob Shaw (Bob Shaw), Wednesday, 31 December 2003 11:48 (twenty-one years ago)

those 4 answers were gems though.
