Crocodile hunter Steve Irwin takes new baby to his first croc feeding
BRISBANE, Australia (AP) — Crocodile hunter Steve Irwin took his month-old son to his first croc feeding on Friday, offering the reptile a chicken with one hand and holding the baby in the other.
With a capacity crowd looking on, Irwin dangled a dead chicken before the four-metre crocodile named Murray, which snapped up the offering. Irwin’s tiny son Bob looked on from his other arm.
“He’s one-month-old, so it’s about time Bob got out there and did his first croc demo,” the Australian celebrity told the crowd at his Australian Zoo.
Irwin’s wife Terri, who gave birth to her second child on Dec. 1, also attended the show, billed as Bob’s “croc feeding debut.”
Irwin’s show, The Crocodile Hunter, served as the basis for the movie The Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course, which came out in 2002.

someone please tell me that the Crocodile Hunter DVD is loaded down with extra shit like Commentary tracks, storyboards, featurettes, etc. This knowledge would truly make my day.

If I were a croc, and some dude was holding a dead chicken in one hand, and a live baby in the other, I would totally go for the baby!
Chicken, I've had. It's alright. Tastes like...
But baby, why, I'd be the first in my swamp!

Word is, Steve's gone into hiding. $100 says he's in the swamp.

I don't see what the huge fuss is, really. it's not like he'd drop the baby, and the croc would probably go for steve first, as he was holding the baby as far away from the croc as possible, and even slightly out of it's eye line.

As Dawn said to me, "He's not exactly supporting the baby's head there"

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 16:13 (twenty-one years ago)

he was on the new last night, daughter by his side talking about it was okay, not to question whether he loves his children etc. - then it all went a bit Braveheart

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 16:14 (twenty-one years ago)

you mean he stabbed a bunch of brits?

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 16:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Mark, maybe not, but probably no worse than a lot of fathers, and I don't think it was the lack of head support that's got so many people's knickers in a twist!

Vicky (Vicky), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 16:18 (twenty-one years ago)

to be fair, she did say "either"
