Enrique (Enrique), Monday, 5 January 2004 15:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Some people argued and then we talked about Alizee. Teeny got engaged.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Monday, 5 January 2004 15:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I am having a tooth removed on Saturday and my driving theory test two weeks after that - January ain't panning out too well, but at least we're going to Malmo at the end of it.

stevem (blueski), Monday, 5 January 2004 15:36 (twenty-one years ago)

There are two people called Jason Alexander. The wrong one was married to Britney Spears for three hours over the weekend.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 5 January 2004 15:36 (twenty-one years ago)

im thinking of going gay

mark p (Mark P), Monday, 5 January 2004 15:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Who's the other Jason Alexander? I don't know either of them. I do know that I have a sore throat, about two weeks left of paid employment, and some very violent thoughts brewing up.

Enrique (Enrique), Monday, 5 January 2004 15:38 (twenty-one years ago)

im thinking of going straight

'Mad' Frankie Fraser, Monday, 5 January 2004 15:39 (twenty-one years ago)

The other Jason Alexander plays George Costanza in Seinfeld. Britney should have married him.

I turned down an MBE, but thought it rather non-U to let the press know about it.

Enrique (Enrique), Monday, 5 January 2004 15:43 (twenty-one years ago)

People with almanacs are terrorists.

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 5 January 2004 15:43 (twenty-one years ago)

sorry, that should obviously say "could be terrorists"

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 5 January 2004 15:44 (twenty-one years ago)

either way, lock 'em up.

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Monday, 5 January 2004 15:45 (twenty-one years ago)

My sister got married on new year's eve, which was fab, but it's been a bit sidelined by the fact that an uncle died three days later (not a shock, he's had a brain tumour for 3.5 years).

Williams (formula 1 team) have just announced that their 2004/5 car is radically different from any others, so it'll be interesting to see if it shakes the field up a bit.

Vicky (Vicky), Monday, 5 January 2004 15:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I decided that All I Desire is much, much better than Written On the Wind. I also anticipated a Victor Sjostrom season at the PFA.

I spent the afternoon sleeping. It was lovely. Me and the mrs are thinking about buying a house.

Matt (Matt), Monday, 5 January 2004 15:53 (twenty-one years ago)

For the love of god, don't do it!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah. Don't own your own property, throw your money at a landlord who's done it instead, it makes great financial sense to let someone else take all your hard-earned cash.

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't be so squ4re! Renting is shit, but so is owning.

Enrique (Enrique), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Largely our reasoning. also I am desirous of a nice kitchen, rather than the fleapit I currently endure. But mostly I just can't be doing with Landlords. This is, however, Not News, therefore apologies to Anthony.

I went back to work. It grates.

Thanx for the advice, skip, but I think I'd rather set about socializing the land for communal use.

Enrique (Enrique), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:05 (twenty-one years ago)

If you can stand the stress then go for it. (i am only speaking from the pov of someone who has just tried to buy their own house but had it all fall through just as we were about to exchange) Obviously my advice wouldn't be 'Don't own your own property, throw your money at a landlord who's done it instead, it makes great financial sense to let someone else take all your hard-earned cash.' despite what is thought!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:06 (twenty-one years ago)

I packed my job in. I am in no danger of getting another one. I now spend my afternoon derailing threads posting, despite my new year's resolution to do otherwise.

The jury is still out on the Bucks Herald Christmas lights competition. Actually it may not be, but THANK GOD I wouldn't know one way or another as I am back home. There is a new Subway in Brighton. No more bits have fallen off the west pier. I am hoping to win the Private Eye Xmas crossword competition.

Now breaking myself in gently on the first day of work by drinking rubbish German wine and eating bean salad... and picking wedding music so I won't have to start organising any of the important stuff.

I made a roasted leg of lamb stuffed with rosemary, sage, and pancetta on Friday night. It was tasty.

Life's a lemon and I want my money back.

Oh! I did spill a whole cup of tea today! I left it on top of a swing bin, and then I opened the bin and the cup went flying. Just like a medieval catapult.

I'm sure your lady wife has been way happy about that, Steve....but I envy ya, really.

Local news? Young adult (who was 11 when he stomped his 6 yr old girl mate to death, practicing "wrestling moves" on her) might be released from jail in the next few months, instead of the 10-15 years he originally was sentenced. Benefits of the American legal system.

Personally? I'm fairly happy with life at the mo, after a too-long period of stressing out. No job yet, but I'm buckling down to starting UK school apps again, so I guess I've time to concentrate on giving out smart answers.

Kinks' Ray Davies Shot in Robbery
Attempt

NEW ORLEANS - Singer-songwriter Ray Davies (news) of the Kinks was shot in the leg while
chasing thieves who snatched a purse from a woman he was with, police said Monday. He was not
seriously injured.

Police said Davies, 59, and the woman were walking along the
Quarter's Burgundy Street around 8:30 p.m. Sunday when the
theft and shooting happened.

Davies was treated and released at a hospital, Capt. Marlon
Defillo, a police spokesman, said. One suspect was captured
within hours of the shooting and another was being sought.

The Kinks, part of the 1960s British invasion, had a string of
hits including "You Really Got Me," "Sunny Afternoon," "All
Day and All of the Night" and "Lola." Davies founded the
band, known for its hard-edged, guitar-driven sound and witty lyrics, with his brother Dave.
