that rhymes and you know it rhymes.

i'm thinking, if i go to that Wimbledon game, maybe i should ring National Rail Enquiries to check that services will be running as normal that weekend.

i may also ring the Met Office to see if rain is forecast.

and it can't hurt to ring the ground itself, there could be waterlogging potential i am not aware of.

i think i might go and visit a friend at their house this weekend. do you think i should phone ahead for that?

Now more than ever...

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:06 (twenty-two years ago)

after a brief but pleasant telephone conversation, Justin Toper informs me this thread will be a big hit

stevem (blueski), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Seriously that's still like the greatest photograph I've ever taken.

Allyzay, Monday, 5 January 2004 16:07 (twenty-two years ago)

i rang him before starting the thread obviously

stevem (blueski), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Steve you are ruining our joke, stop it. Its no fun once you embrace it yourself - like how Mark C calling himself Barry isn't as good as when it sent him into paroxyms of rage.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:10 (twenty-two years ago)

it's a crap joke, i think you could all do better. i phoned The Ghost Of Bob Monkhouse earlier and he agreed it was ridiculous.

stevem (blueski), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Did you really ring him? Did he stare at his phone like that before answering? "Oi, should I, like, answer this, right? Like, I dunno even who it is, right. Could be my travel agent? Maybe I should, like, answer it or something, right."

Allyzay, Monday, 5 January 2004 16:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Gareth looks a wee bit like Mark E Smith in that photo.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:13 (twenty-two years ago)

ah hear you telephone thang, listenanang

Allyzay, Monday, 5 January 2004 16:19 (twenty-two years ago)

actually two things i want to do this month are 1) get my hair cut like Jensen Button and 2) get a suit - so i will be needing to phone both a mens hairdressers and a....place where you buy nice suits. under the circumstances i think it would be wise to phone both of these establishments in advance. what say you?

stevem (blueski), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:20 (twenty-two years ago)

ally how did you get a photo of my mom's "sewing kit"?

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:21 (twenty-two years ago)

i'd like to see the Atari logo on ecstasy tabs. Atar-E's you could call them.

stevem (blueski), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:22 (twenty-two years ago)

She must've bought it at the same sewing shop I did.

Stevem, who is Jensen Button?

Allyzay, Monday, 5 January 2004 16:23 (twenty-two years ago)

F1 driver

http://news.bbc.co.uk/olmedia/660000/images/_662205_button300.jpg

Although I'm sure this is really Will Young.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:24 (twenty-two years ago)

That haircut is crap. I'm against it. I'm against anything to do with that picture actually.

Allyzay, Monday, 5 January 2004 16:25 (twenty-two years ago)

http://news.bbc.co.uk/olmedia/420000/images/_421960_buttons.jpg

Obviously not a good one of his haircut, and it's a bit old, but he's a formula 1 racing driver, or at least he tries to be.

Vicky (Vicky), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:25 (twenty-two years ago)

that photo is out of date, this is hair now

stevem (blueski), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:27 (twenty-two years ago)

It's not exactly inspiring (says a man who took a photo of Richey Manic to the hairdressers at the age of 14; Richey was wearing a 'They Fuck You Up, Your Mum and Dad' t-shirt).

Enrique (Enrique), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:27 (twenty-two years ago)

the alternative:

stevem (blueski), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:28 (twenty-two years ago)

His hair's even worse than that now isn't it? He's trying to be a trendy/womanising (except not, cos that would upset his lady friend) old school style racing driver, but it's not working.

Vicky (Vicky), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:29 (twenty-two years ago)

bah

stevem (blueski), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:30 (twenty-two years ago)

God I'm being slow today. time to go home.

Don't go for the jensen look steve, it would be a big mistake.

Vicky (Vicky), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:30 (twenty-two years ago)

i can't see how

stevem (blueski), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Go for a Richey Manic look! The girls love it! By girls I mean me.

Allyzay, Monday, 5 January 2004 16:33 (twenty-two years ago)

yes, and then disappear!

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:33 (twenty-two years ago)

sniff

stevem (blueski), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:34 (twenty-two years ago)

(joke would have worked better if i didn't like stevem for some reason.)

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, it worked for me Steve, till the whole bonecrusher problem kicked in. Do it!

Enrique (Enrique), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Actually....

http://www.planet-f1.com/graphics/drivers/portraits/2001_portraits/button.jpg

The jensen photo you posted, his hair's a bit whispy, he needs some products slapped on it.

Vicky (Vicky), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:34 (twenty-two years ago)

That is k-cute, and way better than Jenson Button's hair. JBs hair looks like a posh mullet, is not that much different from one of Beckham's myriad stylings, and is therefore crap.

(mega x-post)

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:34 (twenty-two years ago)

(so replace all his posts on this thread with XXXX XXXXXXXX.)

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Jensen's a cunt.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:35 (twenty-two years ago)

btw, a fiver for the first person to figure out who XXXX is.

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:37 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm surprised no-one likes Jensen's hair. i am very critical of Beckham's but i think Mr Button got the balance between ponceyness and stylerama just right here

stevem (blueski), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:37 (twenty-two years ago)

maybe i'll just get one of those ace Formula 1 jumpsuits and wear it to the next FAP

stevem (blueski), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I like the fact that this Jensen fellow is wearing a jacket with LUCKY STRIKE on it most prominently.

Allyzay, Monday, 5 January 2004 16:38 (twenty-two years ago)

you have to buy 1,000 packs.

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:39 (twenty-two years ago)

my grandfather got one. then he died.

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:39 (twenty-two years ago)

and to make matters worse they didn't bury him in it like he stipulated in his will but left him naked. the jacket was auctioned for charity and bought by Matt Le Blanc.

stevem (blueski), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:40 (twenty-two years ago)

and that is why i have to kill matt le blanc, prince bride-stylee.

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Goddamnit, I'm sure I'm up to well over 1,000 packs of Parliaments, I knew I should've been smoking LS all along. :(

If I help you kill Matt LeBlanc can I have the jacket?

Allyzay, Monday, 5 January 2004 16:44 (twenty-two years ago)

yes, but only if i can call you grandpa.

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:45 (twenty-two years ago)

i want to go to a FAP where stevem is wearing a racing jumpsuit.

colette (a2lette), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:47 (twenty-two years ago)

does being grandpa involve handing out candy and smoking a pipe? Cos if so I am TOTALLY IN.

Allyzay, Monday, 5 January 2004 16:51 (twenty-two years ago)

yes. i promise it's not some weird fetish.

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I think you're too tall to sit on my lap but we'll have a go at it if you like. I got some Werther's Originals for ya right here, boy.

Allyzay, Monday, 5 January 2004 16:56 (twenty-two years ago)

i really want a werther's original, but now it just seems wrong

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:59 (twenty-two years ago)

why not just check online?

jel -- (jel), Monday, 5 January 2004 17:38 (twenty-two years ago)

cos it's good to talk.

stevem (blueski), Monday, 5 January 2004 17:41 (twenty-two years ago)

jel -- (jel), Monday, 5 January 2004 17:42 (twenty-two years ago)

stevem (blueski), Monday, 5 January 2004 17:44 (twenty-two years ago)

jel -- (jel), Monday, 5 January 2004 17:46 (twenty-two years ago)
