Tug McGraw Loses Battle with Brain Cancer

This really sucks but it was better for him to go relatively quickly, I guess. I remember being 9 and watching him strike out Willie Wilson to win the series in '80. I barely remember a time in my life when I was happier. Baseball needs more Tug McGraws.

esp. sad that this had to happen on the day when tug's 1980 phillies team-mate pete rose is making headlines for finally 'fessing up to gambling. the best and the worst, i suppose.

but, as bryan said, better that it was quick than prolonged and painful. and there's some sort of symmetry that tug is going out with the Vet. this is another sad sign of passing youth.

he will be missed.
