"YOU EAT HERE?"

"yes"

"ONE DOLLAR!"

As referenced on this thread, this is the best onion soup on the continent, if not the planet.

Thank you Croton Colonial Diner. Thank you.

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 05:35 (twenty-one years ago)

The chocolate mice are really good if they were at the place I think you were at. Phil's drawing, incidentally, is the greatest work of art in the history of man.

Allyzay, Wednesday, 7 January 2004 05:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Where did you go (eat) in Delaware?

A Nairn (moretap), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 05:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Croton Colonial Diner was also responsible for this corned beef omelet which was really goddamned great

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 05:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey, I just got a digital camera. I'll take pictures of all the best resturants' food in (and around) Newark, Delaware and report back.

A Nairn (moretap), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 05:41 (twenty-one years ago)

And this club sandwich which was equally as astonishing

The chocolate mice are at Lefkos Pyrgos on 31st St. which is where we got this:

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 05:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Where did you go (eat) in Delaware?

We didn't get out of the car. Seriously! We were already in the car before the Cape May Ferry hit shore. We got the hell outta there as fast as we could.

A. Nairn, please post Delaware food pics. Convince us that Delaware is more interesting than staring at a blank sheet of cardboard for a couple hours.

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 05:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, that place is freaking awesome.

Allyzay, Wednesday, 7 January 2004 05:52 (twenty-one years ago)

The reward for driving through Delaware. Cheesesteaks and garlic knots at some random place on South St. in Philly. It was the first cheesesteak place we saw.

"please post Delaware food pics."
Ok, I know of the best BBQ place, and a really good hamburger place. I make it to them about once a week, so hopefully I'll get some good pictures in a few weeks.

I regretted not doing more things the times I've been to Wildwood. I'd like to go again with someone who is a bit more into "fun" and "seeking things out" and a bit less into "sitting around" I think, one day.

Allyzay, Wednesday, 7 January 2004 06:22 (twenty-one years ago)

we didnt go close up to the rides like that, which means we missed that duck ride thing.

There was no one on the beach but us and a couple of very determined-looking guys with metal detectors.

The only signs of life on the boardwalk was the proprietor of the "Touch a Live Shark" exhibit -- a shady character sitting in a darkened room, absolutely stunned (and maybe irritated) to see our heads looking through the window.

joday (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 13:55 (twenty-one years ago)

er... signs of life, that is.

joday (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 13:56 (twenty-one years ago)

If any of you New York kids want to try some really creative and tasty Egyptian food -- this place is actually called Mombar, and it's on Steinway St. in Astoria (near Astoria Blvd).

A few storefronts away is the restaurant the head chef's brother opened years ago -- Kabab Cafe. If it's as good as it was when I last went there a couple of years ago, it's probably the best middle eastern restaurant in New York. However, it got such a drastic makeover that we couldn't find it (we looked and looked!) and it was raining like a mofo. Thus our introduction to Mombar.

awesome when i was there a few years ago, although people continually say that it's gone downhill - whatever. too much hairsplitting dulls the palate.
it would be great for a fap (fab?), actually. there's an irish bar in front for your liquor needs, and shareable platters of amazing food in the back. i don't really eat meat anymore, but i'd go anyway for THE BEST ONION RINGS IN THE WORLD.

lauren (laurenp), Friday, 23 January 2004 20:52 (twenty-one years ago)

if they're better than the o-rings at virgil's i'm on the case right now!

lauren (laurenp), Friday, 23 January 2004 21:15 (twenty-one years ago)

maybe so, but virgil's is my bitch for sentimental reasons. we'll see about this pearson's business.
