But now you mention it, Julian has cleaned up his act even if he still has that rum and coke glued to his hand.

You are Julian!JULIAN has just finished his third stint in thejoint and is determined to go straight. 18months of hard time has left Julian wiser, fullof resolve for the future and completelyrehabilitated. He's considering a couple ofcareer options, like maybe going on tocommunity college to become an electrician or ameat cutter or maybe getting into televisionand radio broadcasting. Julian's no recidivistpunk. And to prove he's serious this time,Julian has hired a documentary crew to followhis every waking move.
The only thing standing in the way of Julian'ssuccess is his lifelong pal, Ricky. Ricky iseverything that Julian is not: dim, reckless, and irresponsible. He's also the oneresponsible for Julian's recent"holiday". With a best friend likeRicky, who needs a drug habit or a teenagedson?
Kinda makes you wonder how far Julian could havegone in life if Ricky wasn't riding on hisback.
As if growing up in the park wasn't hard enough:found under a trailer and adopted by Levi andDesiree, no one knows where Julian came from orwho his parents are. Maybe it was for thebest-Levi and Des taught him some importantlessons about responsibility, about taking careof others, and facing up to your problems.Things come in handy for dealing with a guylike Ricky.

The rum & coke in julian's hand - YES! - I saw one episode of season 4 where it looks like the topless park attendant is now also sporting a similar drink at all times.
I say classic so far. Hopefully it'll last....
The only downside so far is that my UK DVD player can't play canadian DVDs so I can't borrow them. As a result I'm only getting one episode about every 2 weeks.

jim lahey: you might be sexy julian, but you can't teach me anything about liquor.
love this show and sad it's over but 'the drunk and on drugs happy funtime hour' has been picked up for six episodes.

I found out that this show is coming on a direct tv channel - 101 network. Boy I'm glad I'm watching it though. The show comes in widescreen and the image is pretty good despite the fact that the cameraman makes the show feel like a student film. The trailer dudes talk to the camera every once in a while like "the office". I don't know when this show first aired but that's definitely sort of ahead of it's time for a Canadian sitcom. I love how there isn't really straight up jokes on this show. It's just funny situations and personalities and stuff
― CaptainLorax, Monday, 19 April 2010 04:14 (fifteen years ago)
fuckin love this show. agree it's not lol-a-minute - you gotta bond some with the characters. best seasons are when lahey is drunk. "a pandemic of shiterpillars"

― fat pavlova slapping your tender mouth (electricsound), Monday, 19 April 2010 23:25 (fifteen years ago)
bubbles obv
Bubbles continues to amaze me. First, finding out that people think he is the smart guy. Second, the first time I saw him smoke pot was sort of when J-Rock and dudes are passing a joint in the background when the main characters are talking. Third, when he is the getaway driver and ends up pretending to be a farmer (he was freaking out and he tells the cows to eat it in a deep paniced voice)... That's just the top 3 off my memory right now
― CaptainLorax, Tuesday, 20 April 2010 04:34 (fifteen years ago)
I'm so happy with this show. It's all first run for me which probably makes a big difference. Plus I get widescreen treatment

Finally watching the first season. This thing had quite the parallel evolution to Reno 911, to the point where I'm disappointed to where they didn't do a cross-over

Watched this for the first time this summer. Had just moved to canada, girlfriend and i were both unemployed, and started smoking weed again after about ten years. It was perfect viewing before bedtime. Jim Lahey kills me.

the 2nd and 3rd season are my favs, the sight-gag of julian climbing out of the overturned truck with a full rum and coke was when i decided, yes, i do indeed like this show...now i have dreams of drunk lahey stumbling around and ruining my life

This one, e.g.:

"He was pulling his goalie!" Ha! Oh, Bubbles.
Also, has anyone seen the Nardwuar vs Lamar interview when Nardwuar asks him if he knows J Rock from TPB? Haha. It would've been awesome if he did.

Been binging on TPB recently on Netflix after friends raving about it years ago. Season 6 my favourite so far, currently on 7. Took a while to warm to any of the characters, but Bubbles is my favourite now.
― michaellambert, Thursday, 7 January 2016 22:49 (nine years ago)
watched it when it was originally aired on showcase and quite enjoyed it
quality has gone down of late though
this and corner gas during my uni days were good times
― F♯ A♯ (∞), Thursday, 7 January 2016 23:33 (nine years ago)
I think that mike clattenburg isn't involved in the Netflix seasons of the show, and that his absence is notable (he's the creator, main writer, director, executive producer of the show, can't help but feel it's not a coincidence that him stepping back from it has had a negative impact).
― Cuombas (jim in glasgow), Thursday, 7 January 2016 23:37 (nine years ago)
yeah, definitely. some of his work on 22 minutes is quality stuff
