Djimi, I have slagged you off in the past, said you were rubbish and should never play for Liverpool. Tonight you proved me wrong, you were marvellous, thankyou.

Once again, sorry Djimi.

Fantastic result, it was great to see the lads play with so much fight and vigour.

quite. i expected a Chelsea rout. still going to need Newcastle to foul up big time in order to keep Owen though.

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 22:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Is Alan Green going to offer a similar apology to Cheyrou? A real surprise, though LFC couldn't keep losing *forever* at the Bridge. Get Owen and Gerrard back and 4th spot is probably theirs.

Meanwhile...nice one, Tomasz.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 22:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Thank you Stephane Dalmat!

I spoke to Jonnie at half time and apparently Greeny was lying down with a cold compress on his forehead.

Cheyrou's first touch (apart from the goal obv) was just as abysmal as ever though.

Excellent results for the bluenoses too, yes. And for Spurs.

Houllier's after-match comments were up to the usual standard, and also sounded quite valedictory in tone: 'I'd like to dedicate this win to the fans, the chairman, the board...'

I only saw the premiership highlights of the pool match, but my brother told me mr.heskey stole the show. surprising result, i'd put my money on pool to get 4th place.

"Meanwhile...nice one, Tomasz."

indeed. his stretch for the goal was stunning.

Heskey played really well, the quintessential big lad. His knock down and one two for the goal were superb. But Traore was my man of the match, he tackled superbly.

chris (chris), Thursday, 8 January 2004 09:28 (twenty-two years ago)

We won 5-2.

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 8 January 2004 11:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd like to apologise to Heskey, Cheyrou and Traore. I've been slagging the lot off all season and against Chelsea they were superb! I still haven't gone back on my slagging off of Houllier yet...

I have nothing to apologise to Emile for, he always gets my upmost support

chris (chris), Thursday, 8 January 2004 12:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Let's not go overboard about Traore, he got stuck in last night alright but he's still hopeless when the ball is at his feet. Heskey kinda slacked off a bit on the second half although his pass to Cheyrou for that goal was supoib. What is the story with Heskey? M'Boro and Blackburn are interested in him or what?

Rarely has a single set of Premiership results so thrilled (me).

Everton 1-1 Arsenal: magnificent effort, fine finish; lovely to watch Rooney menacingly pummelling those free kicks at the wall and the goal.

Bolton 1-2 Man Utd: I'm happy with this; even Cabbage ought to be.

Chelsea 0-1 Liverpool: magnificent: I am so happy for Liverpool's fans, chairman, manager. Truly I am. I don't like Chelsea either. One of the results of the season.

Newcastle 1-0 Leeds: should have been more, but fine from Alan, and buries Leeds a little more. (I will stand by my view that they'll survive.)

Wolves, Soton, Leicester, Portsmouth results: just fine.

Tottenham 4-1 Birmingham: implausible. Revenge for other scores like the opening day 1-0. Dalmat is, or has, quality; I have marvelled in the past at his inability not to beat players. Davies' return could just be substantial, if it is... substantial. Robbie Keane can score from 20 yards or 2 but not in a 1-on-1. So happy to see him claim his goal. Just wish Postiga could net one somewhere.

A new improbable hope for the season: Chelsea slip and slide out of the supposed Big 3 - they finish 5th, behind Newcastle and Liverpool; Bobby and Houllier both survive to acclaim.

Well done Liverpool, whilst having no chance to win the title this year we always seem to make sure Man U win by beating their rivals.

Jarlr'mai (jarlrmai), Thursday, 8 January 2004 13:16 (twenty-two years ago)
