Moral dilemmas of 2004

I have just learned that my neighbor is a spamlord, sending unsolicited email and making thousands per week apparently. I told him I think that's a sleazy way to earn money and he said, in essence, 'Yes, but if I don't do it someone else will.' I have two questions:

1) He seems like a nice guy. Do I now have some sort of moral obligation imposed by knowing his secret evil ways? I deplore spam.

2) Practically speaking, what can I do? I don't know if what he's doing is illegal, and I'm pretty sure preaching at him won't help.
