I need a word really fucking badly and have done since about 9am (tis now 1.30pm). Here is the thing it is going in;

But of course the song’s key lyric refutes the testosterone-fuelled lesbian fantasies by describing the object explicitly as a “[x]”, meaning that a; “[x]” is the biggest gay number one since Right Said Fred, and b; it’s much more [subtly insurrectionist?! no no not this fucking word what word?] than [x], who seem almost leaden by comparison.

It's one specific word that's floating just out of reach of my consciousness. I feel like I'm going mad. ARGH! Its like... the difference between the Beatles and the Stones is that the Stones were in your face but the Beatles were [x]?! Like the difference between ideological state apparatus and repressive state apparatus, is that the ISA is [x], subtle, insidious?!

What the fuck is it?

Kind of quietly and underground-ly revolutionary, like the French resistence, or the vegetarians in Delicatessen...

― Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Friday, 9 January 2004 13:46 (twenty-two years ago)
