Hi, can anyone explain to me the use of XoR in terms such as FuXoR and RoXoR etc. I've seen it on ILE and now I see it at www.hamncheez.com/~noeffort/tftl.htm but I don't understand.

Also, can someone tell me where the word Blog came from.

"XoR" can replace "x", "ck", "k" or "cks" in a word, so a phrase like "punk rock chicks = SEX" would become "punXoR roXoR chiXoR = SEXoR".

oh, i misread the above - yeah, it could well come from XOR and spelling 'hacker' using XOR. but haX0r was the first word i saw spelt like that, a few years ago now

Are there differences between 'XoR' and 'xOR' and 'xoR'?

I always thought it was because it was r0x backwards. so haX0r = a hacker that ROX! "Hack Exclusive OR" makes less sense.

the hacker-speak thing is basically to use alternative letters, numbers, punctuation etc, to spell standard English. so a '3' can replace a capital 'E', a '4' for a capital 'A', etc.

the X0R bit is slightly different in that it's an alternative spelling too

the reasons are, i presume, teenage boys spending too much time on computer, and also the ability to hide pirated copies of software, and other dodgy stuff online, since normal searches won't find 'haX0r' pages/message boards

both pronounced as written (= hem HEM in the first case, tho hem ham is indeed funnier): hem hem = sound of an embarassed cough; chiz chiz = i do not know

n.molesworth himself sez "A chiz is a swizz or a swindle as any fule kno" but how the word is derived is lost in the mists of stupidity
