Anti-Monitor VS the Beyonder

The Crisis (US) villain against the Secret Wars villian. The former's nemesis was called the Monitor (wow!), while the other came to Earth in some strange white spandex-looking thing, and sported a terrible mullet (that is, when not parading around as a glowing ball of omnipotent pink sparkly stuff). One killed Supergirl and the original Flash (Barry Allen - thanks, Jess); the other turned the Thing human (for a while) and inadvertently gave the Marvel Universe VENOM!

The Beyonder is clearly better as his is a story of the unintended consequences of absolute power. Not the absolute power of the Beyonder himself of course but the absolute power of Jim Shooter who clearly was such a figure of fear at Marvel that nobody dared point out how transcendentally ridiculous his Secret Wars II scripts were. In one issue Spiderman teaches the Beyonder how to take a dump.

The Anti-Monitor was just another shit DC villain really. As I recall his origin had something to do with the anti-matter universe of Qward, always a bad sign.

I now kind of regret my call for more comics-based threads. However this ball is rolling and will not stop.

The Beyonder is cooler. But then I don't really read DC comics. Make mine Marvel.

I killed comic books (on ILE) dead? Ah, shit.

Tom, the problem is not comics threads, it's comics threads about stupid American comics. There should be loads of threads about Brit comics from the '70s and '80s. And there will.
