Everyone wants a piece of paradise

I think it was Alain Botton who claimed people feel dumb, left out and sad when they don't have a piece of the american dream. The same goes for finding true love. I agree with this statement. I think we are fed this idea that everyone will find love and/or money. So my question is: Would it be easier if we weren't raised to think we will find our true love or that we can accomplish anything if we just set our minds to it?

There needs to be more pragmatism...you'll be happy sometimes...but it might not last...but then being unhappy might not last. No guarantees, no money back etc. I agree with working toward accomplishing goals, because even if they don't turn out exactly right, at least you were doing something.

I think finding money is something you earn and finding love...isn't. Money's not the most important thing but at least it's more in your control.

'Happiness' is bullshit. Totally fake concept. Your job in life is to get through it, then you're worm food. Thing is, trying to accomplish stuff makes 'getting through it' less tedious and soul- crushing. 'Arbeit macht frei' is a great philosophy, it's too bad the fuckin' Nazis stole it.
