The Chicago FAP Band Experience

I had a crazy idea based on a misreading of the title of this thread. I want to have a band here in Chicago made up solely of ILXors, and the only time we ever play/practice would be when we can manage to arrange a FAP. I'm thinking once every 4 months or so. Has anyone ever done this before? (I'm guessing they have in New Zealand). Who's gonna play what? Who's got a practice space? WHO'S IN?

NA (Nick A.), Saturday, 24 January 2004 00:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Dude, I'll play drums. Except I live in Madison and I'm only in Chicago when I've got a gig, or I really want Lawrence's Fisheries, or if I ever go to a FAP.

How did I miss this thread? (I was searching for something else.) Of course I'm in, dude!

I'll be in Chicago the weekend of the 13th! Gig at the Green Mill that day, then hanging around and seeing Dave Douglas the next night.

Can I be the missing ex-member, like the guy from the Gin Blossoms who killed himself?

nabiscothingy, Wednesday, 4 February 2004 20:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Aw, I was hoping to be the missing member, because I can't make it to FAPs. Maybe there can be two?

That sounds so fun!

JuliaA (j_bdules), Wednesday, 4 February 2004 20:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Look, odds are, everyone is going to be a missing member. So just say you'll be in the band, and no one will be the wiser.

NA (Nick A.), Wednesday, 4 February 2004 20:47 (twenty-one years ago)

um. i'll come see the band but i can't sing or play any instruments.....

Wanda (Wanda), Thursday, 5 February 2004 00:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I've got a tambourine you can borrow.

So...

n/a (Nick A.), Monday, 11 October 2004 18:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Are you being serious, Nick? How could everyone manage to not talk about music criticism long enough to bang anything?

Sarah McLusky (coco), Monday, 11 October 2004 18:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Smokin' funk by the boxes (kenan), Monday, 11 October 2004 18:53 (twenty-one years ago)

All of our songs will be about music criticism. We will play metarock.

n/a (Nick A.), Monday, 11 October 2004 18:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I would come to Chicago for beer and metarock.

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 11 October 2004 19:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Smokin' funk by the boxes (kenan), Monday, 11 October 2004 20:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Maybe this band should be called "COWBELL."

n/a (Nick A.), Monday, 11 October 2004 20:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I own two cowbells, a tambourine with a duct tape head, and a saucepan. I take them to all my gigs.

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 11 October 2004 20:46 (twenty-one years ago)

You can borrow a cowbell, Matt.

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 11 October 2004 20:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm still in. First song is called "Chuck Eddy is Old."

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 11 October 2004 22:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually, I got the "cow" part covered, JC. Just hook me up with a bell. (OR A BELLE>)

Begs2Differ (Begs2Differ), Monday, 11 October 2004 23:17 (twenty-one years ago)
