"Why us, man?"

Seems pretty nasty all around, especially given the WHO's various warnings.

Just ROAST the damn things!

Orbit (Orbit), Monday, 26 January 2004 05:42 (twenty years ago) link

We had this problem a year or two ago. Now it seems to be spreading all over Asia. :-(

This was a "fun" thread:
the bird flu will kill us all!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 5 August 2005 20:11 (nineteen years ago) link

Oh misty watercolored memories.

Laura H. (laurah), Friday, 5 August 2005 20:15 (nineteen years ago) link

Cheer me up. :-(

The sun's gonna shine on your back door some day.

Aimless (Aimless), Friday, 5 August 2005 20:16 (nineteen years ago) link

am i apathetic for not being scared of the bird flu?

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Friday, 5 August 2005 20:32 (nineteen years ago) link

No, clever actually. I know I shouldn't freak out over something which hasn't happened. I'll focus on my dEUS obsession again. ;-)

i found its better not to research these things on the internet

i've had too many sleepness nights worrying about things

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Friday, 5 August 2005 20:34 (nineteen years ago) link

A pathetic what? (xpost - damn - ruined the timing)

Aimless (Aimless), Friday, 5 August 2005 20:34 (nineteen years ago) link

They keep saying it'll spread to the West and kill millions. But I really don't understand why it hasn't happened yet. Why the paranoia? If you look over the years it hasn't killed that many. I know they claim it'll mutate and/or just spread to the West... I'm fed up with all this bad news, it's making me depressed. Cheer me up. :-(

two months pass...
Hmmm.

(It should also be noted that in the midst of yesterday's 'Miers is great no really' press conference Bush took and, I admit to my surprise, fairly lengthily -- if ultimately in generalizations -- answered a question on Just What the US Government is Doing to Prepare. I suspect part of this is post-Katrina reaction but still...)

Oh man, I wrote my dad an e-mail today saying the doctor said John (the poor and sick beloved) has a rhinovirus. He wrote back:

I'm so sorry John is sick. Rhino Flu sounds pretty bad. Everyone keeps
saying that the bird flu is a nonevent. I would be careful however. I know you will.

It would be almost awesome if rhinoceroses were vectors in a new NM-based flu.

migratory rhinoceroses

He has built up this mad supply of things to do while bird flu hits the U.S., in addition to the obligatory (read: 'commanded by God') Mormon year of food supply. Crossword puzzle books & such. My mom bought 200 dishtowels to embroider just in case!

Abbott, Wednesday, 24 October 2007 18:41 (seventeen years ago) link

Arf, it's that awesome dad thing where they ask you to do something by proudly saying "I know you will!"

nabisco, Wednesday, 24 October 2007 18:45 (seventeen years ago) link

Yeah, it is. I wish he'd do it with more, uh, plausible things. Being careful abt bird flu means regularly washing hands/going about normally.
