i sure as hell did, in a really embarrassing fashion. i was sending a text at the time, and so mananged to throw my mobile at my own face as i fell.

and then i slid four or five feet down the hill.

some motorists laughed at me, but i won the war because i'm at home now and they wont be for several hours.

post your ice/snow related falling buffoonery here!

Slump Man (Slump Man), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 19:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Not exactly falling, but when I was shovelling snow yesterday, I was trying to shovel the snow around the gate, and it was so high that the snow wound up pushing the gate back at me, where it collided in several places, causing much bruisy ugliness.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 19:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I haven't fallen yet, but last night when I came back inside I was covered in snow from head to toe! Stick a pipe in my mouth and call me Frosty!

jody (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 19:39 (twenty-one years ago)

It's not snowy or icy in Northern California, but my periodically limping left leg nearly had me fall flat on my face in berkeley yesterday. My ipod would have been history. Instead, I merely swayed, much to the amusement of passing motorists, the bastards.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 19:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Not fallen over since last year. If it's icy tomorrow I'm bound to take a drop :(

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 19:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't now (as FL is snow-less), but I used to fall on my ass every day during a NYC blizzard---just walking down my front steps. Traction? Ha!

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 19:56 (twenty-one years ago)

i have a bruise

on my bum!

Slump Man (Slump Man), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 20:03 (twenty-one years ago)

3 times on an icy step today

Bob Shaw (Bob Shaw), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 20:26 (twenty-one years ago)

isn't ice fun!

i had countless comedy mickey-mouse style almost falls as well with the leaning and the arm-windmilling and the little "woowoowowhoop" noises.

all very good fun

Slump Man (Slump Man), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 20:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Nope, but i wish i was there to see that.

El Spinktor (El Spinktor), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 20:32 (twenty-one years ago)

it was quite a sight

Slump Man (Slump Man), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 20:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I woke up at just about the worst point of my sleep cycle. I woke up and it was seriously like I was 9 months old all over again.

Eric H. (Eric H.), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 21:49 (twenty-one years ago)

in what respect?

did you crawl around and cry and shit in your pants?

Slump Man (Slump Man), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 21:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I did the classic carrying 5 grocery bags, getting out of the car and stepping onto the ice move the other day. Long story short: the eggs were broken.

A Nairn (moretap), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 22:00 (twenty-one years ago)

i was sliding all over the place whilst trudging home earlier but didn't take the full tumble. what fun!

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 22:05 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm leaving work now. wish me luck.

Dave B (daveb), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 22:06 (twenty-one years ago)

good luck Dave B!

take baby steps

Slump Man (Slump Man), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 22:06 (twenty-one years ago)

After the snow and ice that just descended here in Toronto I'm interested in hearing Clumsy's...I mean Kim's stories of tragedy, broken bones and horror.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 22:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Huh, not fallen over yet this year...
*knock-knock-knocks on imaginary wooden leg*
But last year I managed not merely to 'fall over' but also down a bloody slippery slope once, with an axe in hand. Got badly bruised, didn't axe anything off meself, luckily.

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 22:32 (twenty-one years ago)

did you work in a slaughterhouse?

i don't know where else to find both axes and bloody slopes

Slump Man (Slump Man), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 22:39 (twenty-one years ago)

oh hold on: not literally bloody? i'm tired and also i think about blood all the time :/

Slump Man (Slump Man), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 22:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Do you work in a slaughterhouse then? ;)

I was actually felling trees at my parents' place in the country, late last autumn.

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 23:17 (twenty-one years ago)

I haven't fallen over yet (knock) but I did get stuck in the center of an intersection staring at a red light for a good 30-40 seconds or so this evening. I hate the living shit out of my commute home. I am going to wind up responsible for several mutilations and fatalities if this keeps up.

TOMBOT, Wednesday, 28 January 2004 23:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Andrew (enneff), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 23:47 (twenty-one years ago)

I've been pretty lucky. It's really hilly around here, but I know how to go down sideways to avoid slipping. However, I think I've done my back in, shovelling snow. :-(

The River Kate (kate), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 23:48 (twenty-one years ago)

You amateurs, I don't need ice/snow to trip and fall!

Leee Majors (Leee), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 23:49 (twenty-one years ago)

I have a huge ice slick in front of door, and my front light isnt working, so let's see if I survive coming home the next couple of nights.

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Thursday, 29 January 2004 00:20 (twenty-one years ago)

tokyo rosemary - surely a flame thrower would help.

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Thursday, 29 January 2004 00:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Or salt-and-sand, if flamethrowers are out of stock.

cis (cis), Thursday, 29 January 2004 00:30 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't have any salt :(

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Thursday, 29 January 2004 00:38 (twenty-one years ago)

What kind of person has sand but no salt?

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 29 January 2004 00:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I have salt but no sand!

Andrew (enneff), Thursday, 29 January 2004 00:57 (twenty-one years ago)

That's much more understandable.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 29 January 2004 00:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Only important question: Does it melt the ice? Yes? You're golden.

(xpost)

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Thursday, 29 January 2004 01:00 (twenty-one years ago)

"Hey, have you got any salt to put on these chips?"
"No, but I have some... sand"

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 29 January 2004 01:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't believe that Kim hasn't fallen over. C'mon Kim, reprazent.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Thursday, 29 January 2004 03:14 (twenty-one years ago)

maybe she's fallen and can't get up, and (foolishly) keeps her computer on a high shelf?

Dave M. (rotten03), Thursday, 29 January 2004 03:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha Sean... yes, fine. I've slipped but miraculously not fallen (yet)... thanks for the jinx pal. I did however get covered head to toe in horrible road slush because of a completely assholish, impatient truck driver on Spadina this morning.

Kim (Kim), Thursday, 29 January 2004 03:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I made it. No slipping. I roxor. Your prayers helped - thank you all.

Dave B (daveb), Thursday, 29 January 2004 12:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I almost fell over waving to HSA across the street.

Ed (dali), Thursday, 29 January 2004 13:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I fell over on the ice at Kelvinbridge a week ago Saturday. I whacked my elbow off the pavement and turned it rainbow colours, but if I hadn't stuck my arm out, my head would have got the whacking instead so it was probably for the best. There was a man in a parked car right next to where I fell and he didn't get out to help me! He may have been too busy laughing though. RJG and Ally C both fell over that night too.

Madchen (Madchen), Thursday, 29 January 2004 13:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I fell over indoors yesterday without any need of ice. A mobile was involved, though.

Jesus, Andrew, that clip looked painful!

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 29 January 2004 14:29 (twenty-one years ago)

I fell over thirty seconds after leaving my house this morning. I was helped up by an old man who gave me a withering look, possibly because I'd almost taken him down with me.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 29 January 2004 14:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I fell over because ally C was chasing.

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 29 January 2004 14:40 (twenty-one years ago)

i made it from letchworth to welwyn (by train and bike) then fell off about 30secs from my workplace! *drags air through teeth*

dog latin (dog latin), Thursday, 29 January 2004 14:43 (twenty-one years ago)

What was HSA doing across your street? ::sighs::

I have just spent two hours hacking the ice off the driveway so no one falls over. Watch me slip and fall on the way back to the house! (I didn't actually, but still.)

The River Kate (kate), Thursday, 29 January 2004 16:05 (twenty-one years ago)

HSA was walking down the clerkenwell road to get his invites from the printers.

Ed (dali), Thursday, 29 January 2004 16:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Humph, and there was me thinking he was walking to the web cafe to write to meeeee!!! Humph!!! Maybe I will meet my lovely ex-boyfriend for drinks in NYC after all...

The River Kate (kate), Thursday, 29 January 2004 16:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I survived by walking really really slow, it was tortureous.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 29 January 2004 17:30 (twenty-one years ago)

I still read as I walk 45 minutes to work, UR ALL GAY.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 29 January 2004 17:35 (twenty-one years ago)

At least we make sense!

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 29 January 2004 17:37 (twenty-one years ago)

I went up and down the steep mountain with the dog dragging me behind it and still managed not to fall down! Wooooh!

The River Kate (kate), Thursday, 29 January 2004 17:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I haven't fallen over yet! Although I did jump into a snowbank, but that was intentional. Whee snow.

cis (cis), Thursday, 29 January 2004 17:51 (twenty-one years ago)

living on The Ladder = Death Slope Adventure 3D - i should've just ridden a teatray down to the shops - walking on the road turned out to be a lot safer

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 29 January 2004 18:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I drunkenly fell half-way down a certain ilxor's stairs last night.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 29 January 2004 19:11 (twenty-one years ago)

how do you fall half way down a set of stairs? surely momentum brings you right to the bottom? what is there to stop yourself on?

Slump Man (Slump Man), Thursday, 29 January 2004 23:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I just fell over. I tripped over a wire in my room and my legs got tangled in my skirt and I fell into a pile of clothes.

Anna (Anna), Thursday, 29 January 2004 23:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Maybe nickalicious started falling halfway down?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Friday, 30 January 2004 00:13 (twenty-one years ago)

I haven't fallen over, but I've done the slipping, staying on your feet but in the process straining or twisting various body parts in painful ways. Including my liver, somehow.

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 30 January 2004 00:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I feel over sending a text to ESOJ at the train station today. I fell directly on my chest and tummy, scraped my knees and everything. Just when I thought no one had seen me some worker at the train station came over to ask if i was okay, i mean he was pleasant enough, but i would've rather continued to believe I could get up and walk off with noone noticing.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 30 January 2004 04:34 (twenty-one years ago)

fell over i mean :)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 30 January 2004 04:35 (twenty-one years ago)

i feel you

Slump Man (Slump Man), Friday, 30 January 2004 10:14 (twenty-one years ago)

i haven't fallen yet, but last night i hit my head at the cheese and it REALLY HURT. does that count?

colette (a2lette), Friday, 30 January 2004 10:42 (twenty-one years ago)

you hit your head at the cheese? sorry pardon?

Slump Man (Slump Man), Friday, 30 January 2004 12:52 (twenty-one years ago)

at ye olde cheshire cheese pub. when you go downstairs you have to duck because the ceiling is so low. i haven't hit my head in months. but last night both jim and i hit our heads. we think they've lowered the roof or something...

colette (a2lette), Friday, 30 January 2004 13:02 (twenty-one years ago)

oh, and i forgot to say that yesterday, when the sidewalks were still really icy, we spent a nice amount of time in the morning laughing at all the girls that work at the estate agents near our office trying to walk on ice in 3-4 inch stilettos. quite amusing, in a mean way.

colette (a2lette), Friday, 30 January 2004 13:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I think this is more proof colette that youare too tall. Those ceilings are the perfect height for average sized people.

Pete (Pete), Friday, 30 January 2004 13:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Average sized people born before the fifteenth century, you mean.

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 30 January 2004 13:46 (twenty-one years ago)

not once you actually get down there, but on the stairs to the downstairs. i have to duck several inches or i hit my head. and jim is even shorter than me and he hit his head as well!

colette (a2lette), Friday, 30 January 2004 13:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I've never had trouble.

Pete (Pete), Friday, 30 January 2004 13:52 (twenty-one years ago)

two years pass...
Running through the rain, stepped kinda sideways and went over on the asphalt. I have a big graze on my right thigh and it is sore as fuck. Argh!

Andrew (enneff), Monday, 24 July 2006 02:02 (nineteen years ago)

I'm so out of shape, if I were to have a bad fall they'd have to put me down on the spot like a racehorse.

Whitman Mayonnaise (Rock Hardy), Monday, 24 July 2006 02:09 (nineteen years ago)

If it's raining and you're running, don't slip in mud
Because if you do, you'll slip in blood tonight

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Monday, 24 July 2006 02:13 (nineteen years ago)

three years pass...

fell down drunk last night, in the dirt. scraped my hand. nobody saw

sam (jergins), Sunday, 29 November 2009 22:54 (fifteen years ago)

Ow, been there before jergs, sympathy x

(when I did it I fell flat on my face in the pissing rain, and also managed somehow to lose my glasses).

hulk would smash (Trayce), Sunday, 29 November 2009 23:26 (fifteen years ago)

tehresa, Sunday, 29 November 2009 23:33 (fifteen years ago)

i slipped and fell the other day while walking down the street. my attention was distracted by an attractive passerby, and i lost it on a slippery metal access panel that someone had thoughtlessly installed in the sidewalk. which i'm sure greatly impressed the target of my surreptitious affections, but ANYWAY...

four or five people sprang immediately to my assistance, asking if i was alright, offering to lend a hand, etc. took me a bit by surprise, as i'd normally expect indifference at best, cruel mockery at worst. then again, i was at a big central downtown bus stop, and my good samaritans all seemed to be street people - borderline homeless at any rate.

occurs to me that people who depend the most on the assistance of others are the quickest to offer it. which is both interesting and sort of depressing. but so the other day i fell down, yeah.

a dimension that can only be accessed through self-immolation (contenderizer), Sunday, 29 November 2009 23:34 (fifteen years ago)

Lollll. I would outdrink you ALL! I wish I could attend ;_;
