"You're reading it, they're eating it" was the tagline to this classic 2000AD story. The concept was simple - in the future because of the environment all animals are extinct. People eat nothing but healthy synthifood. Naturally they yearn for the taste of meat, which is where Trans Time Corporation comes in - sending people back in time to hunt and butcher dinosaurs for future gourmands. These hunters would typically underestimate the intelligence and guile of dinosaurs, and then get eaten.
Flesh Book One was set in the late Cretaceous, and featured cowboys charging around lassooing triceratopses. The main dinosaur was Old One Eye, a hunting queen Tyrannosaur.
Best bit: where a train uses a recording of a Tyrannosaur's hunting cry to frighten Triceratopses off the track, only to then be attacked by Old One Eye who thinks the train is a rival queen.
Flesh Book Two was set in the Triassic, and was mainly set at sea, featuring lots of people getting eaten by pleiosaurs. The main dinosaur was Big Hungry, a Nothosaur who was always hungry for human flesh.
Best Bit: the classic "No! Let me drown before the giant sea scorpions get me!" cover, possibly the best 2000AD cover of all time.
I'm undecided.

Thankyou for that DV. I have never read Book II and only half of Book
I and thus have only really seen later rubbish books of Flesh.
However the son of Old One Eye, Satanus, was pretty good until they
brought him into Nemesis for some stupid reason.
The day comics got bad was the day they stopped putting speech
bubbles on the covers to give the art more 'subtlety' and 'impact'.

What's the name of the other member of the Old One Eye clan? As well
as Old One Eye herself there's the one on Mars in the ABC Warriors
(Satanus?) and then there's the one Judge Dredd encounters in the
Cursed Earth.

Old One Eye = hag-mother of clan.
Satanus = encountered in Cursed Earth by JD.
Golgotha = fought by ABC warriors including BRIDE OF GOLG sequence.
Where is Al in all this comics nonsense? He's picked a poor week not
to look at ILE.

Didn't Satanus get a cameo in Nemesis (Book 5?) at some point as well?
I have vague recollections of Thoth going back in time and keeping
him as a pet.
Oh, the joys of a misspent youth. I think it's time to brush the
mothballs off those ghafflebete progs in the attic and recharge the
old thrillpower.

I think you're right, but that was in the first distinctly below par
back of Nemesis. If only they'd finished with The Gothic Empire,
sigh.

Of course they don't NOW, but they did back in the Triassic. Jesus,
don't you know anything?

Interestingly, 2000AD are reprinting Flesh Book One in the
Megazine.
