it's good to know that, even in this world of ours that is forever altered, the riaa still has our best interests in mind.

oh, and here too.

fred solinger, Tuesday, 16 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

yup, good to see they're working to maintain their ridiculous, bloated monopoly on the copyrights they've worked so hard to screw artists out of. hip-hip-hooray. if only an artist or two would realize that they could do it themselves, on their own terms, make money and still be popular...

if anyone feels like being especially obnoxious about this, evil email has "@ifuckedtheriaa.com" email addresses now.

Shut up. Just shut up already about this, Solinger. I am sorry but I am at the breaking point with people like you. Boo hoo boo hoo, "even in this world of ours that is forever altered" - the world is altered every damn day unchangeably in a trillion ways. It's time to stop pretending the world has stopped for something that most likely did not directly affect you and move on with things. Absolutely no healing is going to be done, no anything is going to be done, as long as self-pitying prick bastards act like every single normalcy of human life, from the RIAA being jerky to street hustlers trying to profit, is some affront to "the world that is forever altered". Is it low? Sure it is. Is it normal life? Sure it is. Now let it move on and stop bringing up the tragedy in reference to such stupid, minor, inconsequential, normal before this things so that those of us who actually did have to go to a funeral or two can move on for fuck's sake.

Thank you. Thus ends my last WTC rant, unfortunately inspired more by an ill-advised trip to Fred's blog than his actual question.

i was going to say, "you certainly read a lot into that particular comment."

and it's classic of you to assume that i didn't go to any funerals/memorials for family members/people i knew.

fred solinger, Tuesday, 16 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ally, I think the point of that article (if you bothered to read it) was how sneaky the RIAA always is in terms of tacking their interests on to other bills. In this case their judgement was particualrly bad: A bill that originated as a result of a continuing tragedy is seen by them as an opportunity to protect their precious copyrights. pretty shitty if you ask me.

And be careful Ally not to assume that what happened a month ago (and is continuing to happen) doesn't affect people who don't happen to live on the same island as you.

All we need now is Robin to take offense at Ally's anti-rural tone, at which point doomtroll will see this as a slight to cre*tion records, and then pinefox will jump into the fray, asking "What's a World Trade Center".

Sterling Clover, Tuesday, 16 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I take slight at no one, really. I just like everyone to see all sides of things. I'm nothing but a big circle you know.

Sterling has made my day
