How big have you done it?

Not just in terms of income-relative cost, but your preparation, energy, and dedication levels too. Usually, the bigger you do it, the wilder the incidents.

This New Years was mellow but NYE 2000 was apeshit, like a 10 person skeleton crew, two big adjoining suites at the Waterfront for eight bills per, limos, 30+ tabs, 3 8balls, nearly a trunkful of booze, digicams, tickets to Plaza Of Nations, everything. The damage in all areas was severe but the memory of it for everyone present made it all worthwhile. The biggest thing since was Snoop Dogg last summer: we got a truck limo and had a squad at least 30 deep.

One thing everyone should do big is the restaurant. My father taught me that even if on nothing else, splurge on dining. At least one night a week I do Kobe steak house so big I have trouble breathing afterwards, I can sense the meaty richness of excess nearly bursting from my body because there is simply no more room even on a cellular level. Dining well is equal to music on my monetarial priority list.

How big do you do it? This thread is strictly for the ILX ballers so please refrain from posting if it's not your thing. Just wait over thurr and watch our jackets indignantly.

I saw Spike Lee's 25th Hour in the theater, good times

You can easily do it too big in restaurants: my friend went to Japan in sophomore year and was eating somewhere four-star with such determination he was forced to exit with a bout of vomiting. When interrogated by friends about what happened, he said, "It was so good, how could I make myself stop!??"

Do it BIG anyways! Ignore the logistics: you owe it to yourselves.

I saw "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" in the theater too

If you want to see people doing it big, come to Osaka Teppanyaki in Vancouver on a Friday night. People are having such an outrageously good time eating it's like a seated disco. I've seen Russian mobsters in there so deliriously sated with sake and vittles they become....cuddly.

Let me put it this way: the last two times I've been there I've worn aviator sunglasses inside. The atmosphere after they close the doors to the public is positively Scarface.

Once my friend Brian and I went to the theater & we watched "The Big Lebowski."

TOMBOT, as I noted in my original post, if it's not your thing, you are encouraged not to participate. Please relax.

reminds me of a friend in college -- we used to go to this taco joint for their all you can eat lunch deal which after three weeks of him getting, forced the taco place to end the deal for all time because of friend's gluttony.

I'm sorry TOMBOT, I wasn't logged in and read the cut-off email address simply as "shutthefucku----" and misinterpreted it as a hostile riposte. Apologies, and keep on ballin.

This one time, I ate one of those Taco bell family meal deals that consisted of 12 burritos or something equally disgusting in one sitting. And I drank almost a gallonful o' Coke that night. In my defense, I hadn't eaten in over two days.

Wow, that's so large I don't think I can comprehend. I once went to the cinema and saw three films back to back, and I didn't even have coffee between the last two.

Wow!

Problem is, I don't even undertand Coqmaster's initial post... it's written in 'Vince Vaugn in Made'-speak -- help me out here captain, work with me here.

i once drank 2 litres of coke whilst watching a film on the cinema (can't remember what the film was), by the time the film finished I had to dash for the loo so bad. And then I was hyper for 3 hours afterwards on caffeine+sugar rush.

Before I clicked on this i was sure this was yet another thread about genitalia. and now i'm disappointed.

I ate an entire Terry's Chocolate Orange in an hour last year.

were you sick?

stevem (blueski), Monday, 2 February 2004 13:38 (twenty years ago) link

Of course not. Chocolate has a naturally calming effect on the digestion.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 2 February 2004 13:41 (twenty years ago) link

Me and a friend once bowled 18 straight games without respite.

lawrence kansas (lawrence kansas), Monday, 2 February 2004 13:55 (twenty years ago) link

ooh i can beat that! 45 games in 6 hours! (it was unlimited bowling for £5 back in the student days...)

On the gastronomical side, I had a pretty amazing seven-course meal with matching wines a while ago, comped to me by the chef. I'm sure some people could share some good rockstar drug stories! My predictably mild best one is renting a limo to go two hours to a concert and just generally getting fucked up the whole way there and back.

Christ! No wonder Ken bowls the arse off the rest of us.

I managed to get it over my shoulder and about a foot further once.
