Inspired by the "stealth marketing" thread, I took a careful bite of my delicious Quizno's sandwich and decided that we should have a thread where we brazenly endorse products.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Monday, 2 February 2004 22:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm not going to tell anyone what I'm drinking unless I get paid.

jazz odysseus, Monday, 2 February 2004 22:35 (twenty-one years ago)

just let me take this verbatim CD-R out of its case and put it in my sony discman and i'll be right there

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 2 February 2004 22:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I am highly enamored of Kirk's Original Coco Castille Soap. It's just soap. I like that.

Aimless, Monday, 2 February 2004 22:38 (twenty-one years ago)

kiehl's conditioner for extra dry hair with added coconut RULES. also nars liquid eyeliner, mac lipglass, and zebra zeb-roller 2000 medium point black ink pens.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 2 February 2004 23:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Nothing spins your rekkids like a Linn LP12.

Sean (Sean), Monday, 2 February 2004 23:00 (twenty-one years ago)

stuff is good. stuff is better when its on sale. oh stuff woh

kephm, Monday, 2 February 2004 23:01 (twenty-one years ago)

so everyone is all upset about the brand new Chipotle fast food Mexican joint opening on Saint Marks in NYC... but im pretty excited. its really tasty.

phil-two (phil-two), Monday, 2 February 2004 23:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Verizon Wireless fucking sucks.

TOMBOT, Monday, 2 February 2004 23:03 (twenty-one years ago)

peppermint altoids are good mints, but some of your friends may think you've hit the schnapps a bit early.

kephm, Monday, 2 February 2004 23:06 (twenty-one years ago)

If you live at my place, DO NOT get AT&T Wireless GSM - it's a dead spot. Instead, opt for Cingular or T-Mobile (based on identical phone comparison with both services).

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 2 February 2004 23:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Chipotle burritos are the suck, sorry to say.

Sean (Sean), Monday, 2 February 2004 23:15 (twenty-one years ago)

so everyone is all upset about the brand new Chipotle fast food Mexican joint opening on Saint Marks in NYC... but im pretty excited. its really tasty.

for cheap food, this is pretty good stuff. though Barbacoa, for instance, isn't exactly friendly cow.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Monday, 2 February 2004 23:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Thai food is goooooood.

Matos W.K. (M Matos), Monday, 2 February 2004 23:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Maybe the Last Great Unspoiled American Company - ZIPPO.

A durable, quality product backed with a completely unconditional guarantee. If you find a broken fifty year-old Zippo at a junk sale, send it to the HQ and they'll fix it, often replace the guts inside (cotton, flints, etc.), polish it and send it back postpaid, completely free.

Everyone says the same thing - Zippo is great product, makes a great gift, and the company is cool as hell. I use their lighters reguarly in my many popular appearances on stage and screen.

andy, Monday, 2 February 2004 23:18 (twenty-one years ago)

while I'm at it, I love Starbucks and Apple Computers.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Monday, 2 February 2004 23:19 (twenty-one years ago)

smartwool socks are the height of civilization.

Maria (Maria), Monday, 2 February 2004 23:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I initially read that as 'meatwool' and I was afeared.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 2 February 2004 23:22 (twenty-one years ago)

One product I don't understand and CANNOT endorse:

Those half-and-half milk thermos things they have at coffee shops... I can't figure out how to open them, and then either a trickle or way too much milk comes out. Poorly designed and executed but nobody complains...

andy, Monday, 2 February 2004 23:26 (twenty-one years ago)

meatwool? is that like rapidly biodegradeable insulation?

Maria (Maria), Monday, 2 February 2004 23:33 (twenty-one years ago)

When in the San Fernando Valley, opt for Ameci's Pizza and Pasta! Also, Taste Chicago in Burbank at Hollywood Way and Verdugo (Joe Mantegna-owned, slightly overpriced, very good CHicago food place), and Bamboo Village Chinese Restaurant at Coldwater and Magnolia (finest crab rangoons I've ever had!)

Gear! (Gear!), Monday, 2 February 2004 23:33 (twenty-one years ago)

i heartily endorse McV's - choccy digestives in a robust re-useable tube for freshness retention, from McVities. you can't beat this biscuit.

stevem (blueski), Monday, 2 February 2004 23:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Eat no fat
and eat no lean
Eat Beck's Beans
Fit for a queen!

Kingfish Funyun (Kingfish), Monday, 2 February 2004 23:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I just ordered a Shop-Vac for my apartment, because I don't believe in fucking around.

TOMBOT, Monday, 2 February 2004 23:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Also my new Panasonic microwave is the Shit.

TOMBOT, Monday, 2 February 2004 23:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I find that Langenscheidt's yellow vinyl pocket foreign language dictionaries are excellent bathroom reading.

TOMBOT, Monday, 2 February 2004 23:54 (twenty-one years ago)

How the hell does one read "smartwool" as "meatwool?"

I got a pair of those smartwool socks for xmas this past year and concur. Those are some civilized socks.

martin m. (mushrush), Monday, 2 February 2004 23:55 (twenty-one years ago)

tivo, folks, it'll change your life.

teeny (teeny), Tuesday, 3 February 2004 00:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Pentel mechanical pencils

B61 (calstars), Tuesday, 3 February 2004 01:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Last Saturday afternoon, I felt parched and in desperate need of some liquid refreshment. So I popped on over to a convenience store, picked up a Diet Coke with Lime, and guzzled it down. My mouth did the Happy Jig shortly thereafter.

Mellow Dee (Dee the Lurker), Tuesday, 3 February 2004 04:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Their Super Bowl ad was terrible, but I am receiving the best shave of my life with the Gillette Mach 3 (don't know about Turbo). It has allowed me to reduce my shaving from every other day to every third. (No, I don't have a real job.) I'm not sure if it's actually the three blades or the fact that there's no back so the whiskers get cleaned easier.

mookieproof (mookieproof), Tuesday, 3 February 2004 04:15 (twenty-one years ago)

How the hell does one read "smartwool" as "meatwool?"

Very carefully.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 3 February 2004 04:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I fully endorse Meatwool for the Democratic candidate for the Presidency of the United States of America in 2004. No wait, make that 2008.

NA (Nick A.), Tuesday, 3 February 2004 04:17 (twenty-one years ago)

How the hell does one read "smartwool" as "meatwool?"

The same way I accidentally read "Pentel mechanical penis"

Anyway I highly recommend the purchase of a siamese kitten.

Mike Stivic reacts to a letter from the DNC he's just read to his wife and in-laws, requesting that they be sent one of his winter sweaters.

Mellow Dee (Dee the Lurker), Tuesday, 3 February 2004 04:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Ice Breakers mints - they're like those Certs Powerful Mints, except they're even stronger, taste better, and they're HUGE! I was hooked on Altoids, and now I've moved on to Ice Breakers. Oh yes.

Ernest P. (ernestp), Tuesday, 3 February 2004 06:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Pret a Manger mocha - only £1.45 and it keeps Starbucks on their toes! Also their chocolate mousse is delicious and possibly fatal.

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 3 February 2004 13:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm too busy enjoying a cup of delicious Baxter's Tomato & Basil soup to post on this thread.

For that chalky taste that lingers, make it New England Confectionary Company brand wafers.

1913
Donald MacMillan, explorer, takes NECCO Wafers on his Arctic expedition, using them for nutrition and as rewards to
Eskimo children.

scott seward (scott seward), Tuesday, 3 February 2004 14:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Static Guard -- for flyaway hair and sweaters and on and on. Static drives me noots.

Jeanne Fury (Jeanne Fury), Tuesday, 3 February 2004 19:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I gladly endorse Trader Joe and its private-label products (with the exception of a "black truffle-infused" olive oil that tasted more like extremely dilute pine resin).

j.lu (j.lu), Wednesday, 4 February 2004 00:46 (twenty-one years ago)

six years pass...

"Trim" brand nail clippers, in my experience, cut more cleanly and neatly than "Lacrosse" brand.

"Fresh Step" cat litter forms sturdier and drier clumps than "Tidy Cat" brand.

o. nate, Friday, 19 March 2010 18:42 (fifteen years ago)

lol at "for the chalky taste that lingers..."
surprised that the company hasn't hit upon this enticing description!

lou reed scott walker monks niagra (chinavision!), Friday, 19 March 2010 18:48 (fifteen years ago)
