I feel like this was a setup and now I'm ashamed of myself.

Both suggestion would fit the bill, Brel "L'Homme de la Mancha" too.

I like the senor coconut idea because it's following the codes of a golden age but it might be too self-conscious to be faithful to the essence of the character.

the setup might be to start conceptual dj set threads for different literary characters: Hamlet,Sherlock Holmes,Poe's Raven,Oedipus,Scrooge,Frankenstein,Moby Dick,Charlie Brown,Tarzan etc

See, I was reading "conceptual dj set" as "performance involving thinking about spinning records".

In college I used to give the profs I was friendlier with mixed tapes to go with really long essays.

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 3 February 2004 07:40 (twenty-two years ago)

What kind of essays? Were the mixed tapes related to the writing?

jazz odysseus, Tuesday, 3 February 2004 07:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, if writing about Thatcher one would slip "Margaret on the Guillotine" and other relevant tracks onto a C90 for one's lecturer. It was fun.

I included a 12" of "Blue Monday" with an Art History paper once!
