It's driving me mad.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 4 February 2004 12:19 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm still getting loads of P*ris Hilt*n bollocks

Nick H (Nick H), Wednesday, 4 February 2004 12:21 (twenty-two years ago)

You don't see that in the video.

I seem to be getting loads more into my Yahoo address that used to be more-or-less spam-free. Nothing involving Berlin Holiday Inn though.

robster (robster), Wednesday, 4 February 2004 12:24 (twenty-two years ago)

It isn't driving me mad really, just kind of annoying.

it's very annoying, i still use Outlook Express like a fool and have set up several rules including one to instantly delete messages with Subject containing the likes of viagra, xanax, erection, diploma, prescription or mis-spelt deviations of

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 4 February 2004 12:42 (twenty-two years ago)

I started getting tons, but then Yahoo refined their spam filter (again) and make it easier to get rid of spam (check box, hit Spam button and it's blocked and reported). I tend to get dead boring ones - Daily Mortgage News and the like - although Par1s H1lton did seek me out on occasion as well.

Madchen (Madchen), Wednesday, 4 February 2004 13:07 (twenty-two years ago)

isn't it also due to the mydoom virus? we get about 30 per day @ work. it's CRAP.

nathalie (nathalie), Wednesday, 4 February 2004 13:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Sometime in the last three or four months, my home address went from getting 6-8 stock options/cheap printer cartridges/p0rn spamails per day to getting 30-40.

Ironically, I recently blind-CCed a response (written from my Yahoo account) to a mail from Jerry The Nipper to my home account and *that* was bounced "due to content". WTF? Who knows how much vibrant Barthelmian banter has been blocked in favour of "monster cooks" and "wet fussies"?

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Wednesday, 4 February 2004 13:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Mines reached 130 plus a day but the spam filter is keeping on top of it, bar one or two.

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 4 February 2004 13:26 (twenty-two years ago)

We have our own MyDoom virus here on ILx. It's called "Geir Hongro."

A lot of email accounts are set up to refuse Bccs, Mike.

Madchen (Madchen), Wednesday, 4 February 2004 13:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Hmm, I've been getting lots less spam since the New Rules (of about November) which most experts and cynical me said wouldn't make any difference at all. I think things have got better, spam-wise.

Enrique (Enrique), Wednesday, 4 February 2004 13:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Nah, that's not it, Madz. I BCC mail home all the time and only the barely perceptible fruitiness of Jerry's embedded text (or my reply) triggered Freeserve's force field.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Wednesday, 4 February 2004 15:08 (twenty-two years ago)

I find that Yahoo's spam filter gets far too many false positives - especially comments from my blog and mailing-list digests, which always seem to end up in the spam bin.

caitlin (caitlin), Wednesday, 4 February 2004 15:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I know it's wintertime and all, but judging by the emails i've been getting my penis must have shrunk quite considerably lately.

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 4 February 2004 15:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't you keep records of that sort of thing?

caitlin (caitlin), Wednesday, 4 February 2004 15:22 (twenty-two years ago)

I've noticed a marked decrease in spam to my hotmail account, like only 5 or 6 a day now.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 4 February 2004 17:15 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah i've been getting much less as well, only about 10 a day compared to about 50 a day a while ago
i vaguely thought it was to do with some sort of new legislation about spam, for some reason...
