Is this the most antisocial manifestation of "humor" ever?

"Nothing is funnier than a little girl crying and then falling into a koi pond and nearly drowning!"

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Thursday, 5 February 2004 01:27 (twenty-two years ago)

touche

bill stevens (bscrubbins), Thursday, 5 February 2004 01:29 (twenty-two years ago)

It's always kids in pain or women falling into wedding cakes or guys accidentally backing into helicopter blades.

unexpected trauma is hilarious!

Gear! (Gear!), Thursday, 5 February 2004 01:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Bob Saget, man...I can only conclude he removed his mind and soaked it in brine while his body went out and did the show.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 5 February 2004 01:31 (twenty-two years ago)

antisocial my ass. There's always that big crowd of happy Americans just beaming and laughing at everything on the show. And they're laughing a lot more than I ever did watching the show by myself. Hell, their collective spirit somehow let's them tolerate Bob Saget. It may be fuckin' miserable, but it ain't antisocial.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Thursday, 5 February 2004 01:31 (twenty-two years ago)

ARGH! MY GROIN!

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Thursday, 5 February 2004 01:32 (twenty-two years ago)

There's a spanish language version that's even more hilarious... it seems that not a birthday party goes by in Latin America without someone's hair catching fire or a monkey dropping from a tree and biting a startled child...

The audience roars in approval; I find myself joining them.

andy, Thursday, 5 February 2004 01:32 (twenty-two years ago)

There was a totally awesome clip of monkeys mauling a parked car, but the audience voted for a video of a dog wearing sunglasses instead.

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Thursday, 5 February 2004 01:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I no longer trust the American voting body

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Thursday, 5 February 2004 01:38 (twenty-two years ago)

one of the greatest things I ever saw on that program involves a dad convincing his son to put his beloved pet rat on the table so he can videotape it. all of a sudden this fucking hawk swoops down, takes the rat, and the kid cries. needless to say, i was weeping as a result.

bill stevens (bscrubbins), Thursday, 5 February 2004 02:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Classic. Classic. Classic.

Who knew that there were so many cats that fell off of television sets while napping? Who knew that there were so many elderly people in this country that could cross their eyes while popping out their dentures? Who knew that little children were so incapable of properly using a see-saw?

Well, I did, but I still enjoy watching it. America, America, this is you.

Baby Loves Head Rub

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Thursday, 5 February 2004 06:01 (twenty-two years ago)

and this show has been on the air for 15 years

Kingfish Funyun (Kingfish), Thursday, 5 February 2004 06:03 (twenty-two years ago)

As American society becomes even further desensitized and jaded, surely some time in the near future shows like Too Hot For TV! and AFHV will merge in such a way that footage of a military officer on an aircraft carrier getting sucked into a jet turbine will be met with a laugh track and bemused chuckling from the studio audience.

Aaron A., Thursday, 5 February 2004 06:16 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah that Spanish version is way the hell better

Pious Twin (abennett), Thursday, 5 February 2004 06:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Still sounds better than Uncut: Kirsty's Home Videos

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 5 February 2004 09:55 (twenty-two years ago)

JOSEPH SIMMONDS, Tuesday, 2 May 2006 03:21 (nineteen years ago)

this is my favorite show of all time btw.

city of gyros (chaki), Tuesday, 2 May 2006 03:27 (nineteen years ago)

it's the best show on the planet but i really hate tom bergeron's new segment now where he puts his head on people with the varying expressions, usually in the sequence of _______, _______, _______, PAIN.

ath (ath), Tuesday, 2 May 2006 03:34 (nineteen years ago)

I hate the "Guess Where They Get Hit" segment since it's nothing more than me watching on television other people watching other people on television.

Also, Tom Bergeron reminds me of my boss, no shit.

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Tuesday, 2 May 2006 03:46 (nineteen years ago)

i would be interested to hear why this type of humour is less valid than any other. also whatever 'antisocial' means.

Ko' Maydee, Tuesday, 2 May 2006 04:41 (nineteen years ago)

If anything, this type of humour is MORE valid than any other. Especially vis-a-vis the Mel Brooks You:Open Sewer::Me:Hangnail comedy-tragedy axis.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 2 May 2006 13:46 (nineteen years ago)

i LOVE this show, as ive said before. I hate the head, gut or groin segment too but i dont mind the 'who will get hit' segment which usually involves a pinata.

Ive never seen AFV with any host but Bergeron. I've been watching 'Australia's Funniest Home Videos' instead where giggly ex-models host.

sunny successor (katharine), Tuesday, 2 May 2006 16:33 (nineteen years ago)

yeah, we had daisy fuentes for a while too.

ath (ath), Tuesday, 2 May 2006 16:54 (nineteen years ago)

Destroy: America's Funniest People

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 2 May 2006 16:58 (nineteen years ago)

but the chemistry between Jack Ching Bada-Bing and Tawny Kitaen was undeniable...

ath (ath), Tuesday, 2 May 2006 17:03 (nineteen years ago)

i hate how the kid videos ALWAYS win. one night this guy was driving his boat talking to the camera when a fish leapt out of the water and bitch slapped him. malicious fishes. GOLD, right? well, some kid that pooped his pants or something won instead.

sunny successor (katharine), Tuesday, 2 May 2006 17:03 (nineteen years ago)

hahahahahahahahhahahaha did you get to see any of the poop? bwahaha that would fuckin make me lol

ath (ath), Tuesday, 2 May 2006 17:05 (nineteen years ago)

Did Tawyn Kitaen replace Arlene Dahl or vice versa?

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 2 May 2006 17:14 (nineteen years ago)

arleen sorkin? yeah, vin de bona fired arleen sorkin and then they hired tawny kitaen and then arleen sorkin sued ABC and then dave coulier had sex with alanis morissette.

ath (ath), Tuesday, 2 May 2006 17:18 (nineteen years ago)

I promise to keep a camera on my kids as much as possible, but the catch is the only money spent on them will be from AFHS winnings.

S- (sgh), Wednesday, 3 May 2006 00:53 (nineteen years ago)

Did anybody NBC's "Most Outrageous Moments" tonight? God I love that stuff. Howev, their "home video" clips ALL seemed staged. Which is, like, I don't know ANTI-Humour.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Wednesday, 3 May 2006 00:55 (nineteen years ago)

Say what you will about the baby video always winning, at least you know nine-outta-ten it wasn't staged.

Eric H. (Eric H.), Wednesday, 3 May 2006 05:08 (nineteen years ago)

Jesus, that "I Can't Dance" video is like the precursor to Faces of Death.

Abbadavid Berman (Hurting), Wednesday, 3 May 2006 05:12 (nineteen years ago)

two years pass...

Has anyone ever been on this show? Not as an audience member, but has your video ever been aired?

Ai Lien, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 15:47 (seventeen years ago)

crutis debating the big issues

latebloomer, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 16:01 (seventeen years ago)

they always went for the cute kid over the actual lols

latebloomer, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 16:01 (seventeen years ago)

yeah man, that really pissed me off when I was a kid watching that show. the actual funny video always lost to some stupid video of a baby. that is what opened my ideas to the injustice at the heart of democracy

burt_stanton, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 16:14 (seventeen years ago)

Home of the brave.

We had Jeremy Beadle, actually causing stuff to happen.

Jarlrmai, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 16:30 (seventeen years ago)

one month passes...

of course the babies always win because AFV is the family show poster child and families have babies and when you have a baby you fucking love the shit out of all babies and will make sure they win at any cost.

it used to make me mad too, btw

sunny successor, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 15:46 (seventeen years ago)

actually the worst is when the staged lols win. it should only count if its accidental.

sunny successor, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 15:48 (seventeen years ago)

LOVE "a moment of EWWW"

impudent harlot, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 15:52 (seventeen years ago)

kids unexpectedly vomiting on birthday cakes lololol

impudent harlot, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 15:52 (seventeen years ago)

lots of staged clips are submitted but they rarely make it past the first screening b/c people are generally terrible actors and they never get it right. though i think there was one totally obvious one from ten years ago that won like 10k despite being obvious bullshit.

omar little, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 17:31 (seventeen years ago)

the guy getting pulled off the roof?

abanana, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 18:00 (seventeen years ago)

naw, this dude shooting off a model rocket and then the model rocket somehow coming back around and almost hitting him (it was actually just a second model rocket being shot from offscreen)

omar little, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 18:02 (seventeen years ago)

I saw one the other night where a bird or cat knocked some water off a picnic table and soaked the woman who just happened to be laying underneath the edge of it.

Pleasant Plains, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 18:08 (seventeen years ago)

six months pass...

most of the fake ones are awesome epic fails in both humor and skill. america's funniest people, btw, is remarkably tough to watch.

steve goldberg variations (omar little), Monday, 2 February 2009 21:31 (seventeen years ago)

i love this show so much more than the hangover that dominates sundays

PappaWheelie V, Monday, 2 February 2009 21:32 (seventeen years ago)

"unexpected trauma is hilarious!"

This pretty much summarizes the content of all SuperBowl ads this year,

Bobbi Peru, Monday, 2 February 2009 23:26 (seventeen years ago)
