what are the cheapest/best unlimited dialup isps that work with macs (0S 9.1, i think) in the uk?

(this is a question for anna.)

I'm still with v21 dialup for a tenner a month. Unlimited = 42 hours a week. It's increasingly hard to get a connection in early-mid evening, though, so I don't know I'd recommend it. Should work with OS9 - getting it to work with OSX was actually quite straightforward though the instructions assumed you had a PC and I ended up having to make a quick call to their customer support.

in theory any isp should work with os9 apart from aol.

is that true of broadband too, ed, or is there more of an issue there?

Man, I'm just dying to get away from Easynet (their mail service SUXORS!!!) so maybe I should use this opportunity/thread, too...

Toby - if you're talking about ADSL and you use an ethernet rather than USB modem, pretty much, I think. AOL probably excluded, again.

(do an ILE search on broadband for threads where I was asking about mac broadband before I got all broke and postponed the idea)

thanks nick; the usb vs ethernet thing wass the missing link in my knowledge.

For what it's worth, I've been using a USB modem on OSX with btbroadband (the 'no-frills' one that gets added to your phone bill) for a little over a year now, and am very happy with it.

Curiously though, I found it incredibly slow (as in, roughly the same speed as the 56k modem I'd just thrown away) in 9.1. Not quite sure why...
