Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 5 February 2004 21:01 (twenty-two years ago)

What brand is that Spencer?

Aaron W (Aaron W), Thursday, 5 February 2004 21:28 (twenty-two years ago)

that's the Gucci stripe.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 5 February 2004 21:29 (twenty-two years ago)

ah yes it is

Aaron W (Aaron W), Thursday, 5 February 2004 21:30 (twenty-two years ago)

worth every penny?

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 5 February 2004 21:31 (twenty-two years ago)

probably not that many.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 5 February 2004 21:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd post a picture of the excellent light-weight jeans I have, but they look like regular jeans, so there's no point. But yay for light-weight denim and soft, paper-thin t-shirts.

Mary (Mary), Thursday, 5 February 2004 22:38 (twenty-two years ago)

nice.

it's high time I got an alligator shirt, but what color? I'll be wearing it with dark blue jeans and a dark brown velvety (but not really sheeny) blazer.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 5 February 2004 22:41 (twenty-two years ago)

powder blue?

shoes will be black Purcells

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 5 February 2004 22:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Powder blue, green, and white will all work. Once you get one, you will not be able to stop there.

Mary (Mary), Thursday, 5 February 2004 22:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I have a red one from france, but when I wear it I feel like I work at Target.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 5 February 2004 22:55 (twenty-two years ago)

powder blue is first

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 5 February 2004 22:56 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm thinking baby blue

dan (dan), Thursday, 5 February 2004 22:59 (twenty-two years ago)

I wonder if there's a west coast lacoste outlet...

I also like the orange Polo with the blue polo dude

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 5 February 2004 23:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey, I want a Lacoste polo.. in kelly green, but I can't afford it..

Er, I did pick up a super bright cardigan from that Mizrahi Target stuff, it's nice (but remember, the sizes run huge and the smalls go fast..)

daria g (daria g), Friday, 6 February 2004 06:21 (twenty-two years ago)

how much does a Lacoste run retail these days?

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 6 February 2004 06:22 (twenty-two years ago)

I believe the women's shirts were retailing for ~$64 last year. You could knock about $20 off that and go with Penguin.

Mary (Mary), Friday, 6 February 2004 06:55 (twenty-two years ago)

but I like the texture, look and significance of the gator!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 6 February 2004 06:58 (twenty-two years ago)

You could trry a thrift store.

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Friday, 6 February 2004 07:06 (twenty-two years ago)

wait! it's a crocodile!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 6 February 2004 07:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Spencer, silly, you can have alligators, penguins, and ponies. You don't have to choose! With Bumi Sirotka, you can add a pineapple.

and don't forget Tigres!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 6 February 2004 08:50 (twenty-two years ago)

The boys' section of big department stores is fabulous for Izod/Lacoste shirts. When I was 14 I had a green one and a non-pastel pink one.

suzy (suzy), Friday, 6 February 2004 09:03 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm going out shopping tomorrow and am starting to look for at least one, maybe two, spring dresses. would be nice if they were versatile enough to wear to the fancypants dinner coming up this week and a wedding in april, but not so dressy that i feel overdressed wearing them around.

any ideas on what/where to look?

colette (a2lette), Friday, 6 February 2004 14:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I used to have a pink & a blue lacoste polo shirt, many years ago now though!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 6 February 2004 14:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Lacoste? Jesus, is everyone here from Blur in 1995? Get the 6-hole Doc Martens out of the wardrobe too, while you're about it.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 6 February 2004 15:48 (twenty-two years ago)

I forgot to mention that I absolutely hate Lacoste now, I was about 15 when I wore them!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 6 February 2004 15:49 (twenty-two years ago)

non-pastel pink one
Label me colour blind, but what is non-pastel pink?

nathalie (nathalie), Friday, 6 February 2004 16:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Fuchsia?

Madchen (Madchen), Friday, 6 February 2004 16:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Hott.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 6 February 2004 16:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm totally thinking retro mid-nineties! I also have a Gucci belt and I'm listening to a lot of His N Hers.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 6 February 2004 18:31 (twenty-two years ago)

also I believe NYC fashion week begins today so feel free to post your favorite pics from the collections.

teeny (teeny), Friday, 6 February 2004 18:33 (twenty-two years ago)

ugh, the gen arts thing yesterday was really bad

phil-two (phil-two), Friday, 6 February 2004 19:02 (twenty-two years ago)

The Chr1stopher Deane show was pretty good. I only saw half of it since I had to dress a few of the models, which consisted of buckling shoes, zipping up dresses, and tying sashes onto nekkid girls. There was a really nice purple/black women's coat. It's really expensive though. And a great brown pinstriped suit for men. And cowboy'ish looking shirts that I couldn't wear but maybe a white guy could get away with.

Oh but the Raf Simons show was hilarious. I think I saw scuba gear, a tae kwon do outfit, enormous sweaters with sleeves down to the knee, vampire capes, and raver pants. Nice outerwear. Even more expensive though.

phil-two (phil-two), Monday, 9 February 2004 23:23 (twenty-two years ago)

I went out to try and get a gator today, but they run 69.00 at the Lacoste store in NYC.

There are also beaver, if you're a lady and go to Roots

ModJ (ModJ), Monday, 9 February 2004 23:27 (twenty-two years ago)

pale pink would be nice with the brown blazer - brown and pink= winner.

jed_ (jed), Monday, 9 February 2004 23:41 (twenty-two years ago)

phil-two (phil-two), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 03:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Teeny, you will actually look at the "piece" before you, like, buy it, right?

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 29 March 2004 14:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I meant like see in person/try on.

teeny (teeny), Monday, 29 March 2004 14:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm thinking I should get these, they're marked down to $150

teeny (teeny), Monday, 5 April 2004 14:35 (twenty-one years ago)

they're sergio rossi, anyone have any experience with those?

teeny (teeny), Monday, 5 April 2004 14:36 (twenty-one years ago)

No experience, but teeny you gotta get them, you just gotta!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 5 April 2004 14:38 (twenty-one years ago)

every girl needs a pair of red boots!

teeny (teeny), Monday, 5 April 2004 14:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Indeed!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 5 April 2004 14:42 (twenty-one years ago)

They look brown to me! Am I suffering from colour-blind?!

Sarah (starry), Monday, 5 April 2004 14:55 (twenty-one years ago)

they are wiiiiiiiiine.

teeny (teeny), Monday, 5 April 2004 14:59 (twenty-one years ago)

A browny maroon i think!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 5 April 2004 15:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I bought a new hat at the weekend. I love it. It's one of those 40's ones that perch on your head. It's made of navy blue straw with a veil in wide net. It's very Mafia Funeral.

(I think th boots are maroon)

Anna (Anna), Monday, 5 April 2004 15:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Man, they SO look chocolate brown to me! Goodness. Too much Scrabble playing probably means I can only see green/blue/red these days.

I wore a fantastic trilby on Saturday - I really should develop more of a Hat Habit. I am intending on developing more of a black polo neck habit as well, although I do keep looking in the mirror getting confused at something so white sticking out between a mop of black hair and black top yes Goth I know, sssh.

Sarah (starry), Monday, 5 April 2004 15:04 (twenty-one years ago)

They are kind of between burgundy and brown. Conker-coloured.

Anna (Anna), Monday, 5 April 2004 15:05 (twenty-one years ago)

hm, they look brown to me but i'll take the buyer's word for it that they're maroon. i saw a girl yesterday with maroon leather boots, and they looked really good. she was wearing her jeans tucked into them, a slightly too small pale yellow sweatshirt over a classic blue oxford cloth button down, and a navy peacoat. i had severe outfit envy.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 5 April 2004 15:08 (twenty-one years ago)

i had severe outfit envy.

Further proof I will never have any idea of what's cool when it comes to outfits.

Jeanne Fury (Jeanne Fury), Monday, 5 April 2004 15:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I am wearing a black polo neck today. That combined with my black pinstripe trousers is the ONLY outfit that can make me feel remotely slim these days.

When it's really summer I won't even be able to wear black any more. Suggestions for slimming summer outfits urgently requested!

Archel (Archel), Monday, 5 April 2004 15:11 (twenty-one years ago)

they are ordered yaaaaaay!

I also got this sweater:

http://bluefly.speedera.net/zs.bluefly.com/mgen/Bluefly/prodImage.ms?productCode=1003429&width=240&height=240

teeny (teeny), Monday, 5 April 2004 15:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Dude, I'm still going to be wearing black this summer!

And potato sacks.

Sarah (starry), Monday, 5 April 2004 15:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually I want to get yellow shoes, pretty summer dresses and SHAWLS for this summer, I am so excited!!

Sarah (starry), Monday, 5 April 2004 15:20 (twenty-one years ago)

oxford shirts are quite in these days and they are slimming, esp if you wear them open with a contrasting shirt underneath. Or blazers, blazers are great.

teeny (teeny), Monday, 5 April 2004 15:22 (twenty-one years ago)

It sounds like teeny is recommending something which sounds very similar to the concept of "An Suit" to me!

*worries*

I wore a suit jacket and stuff last Friday - I got a job, but I don't intend on wearing it again (until the NEXT job interview)!

Sarah (starry), Monday, 5 April 2004 15:23 (twenty-one years ago)

A-line skirts work as slimmers for me. (body type small waist + big hips) It appears that they aren't especially in anymore, but I'll probably keep wearing them anyway.

Kim (Kim), Monday, 5 April 2004 15:25 (twenty-one years ago)

i want a pair of gold leather sandals (not strappy stilettos, something more 50s & substantial) to wear with capri jeans. my friend has a pair from prada that drive me insane with envy every time she brings them out.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 5 April 2004 15:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I like that jumper/sweater teeny!

IIRC Trinny and Susannah recommend wearing a patterned skirt (or at least a pattern over the stomach area) to minimise the appearance of BULGE. Do you think this works? I currently own 0 patterned bottom halves.

Archel (Archel), Monday, 5 April 2004 15:29 (twenty-one years ago)

yay for a job starry sarah!

no, the thing about the little boucle jackets that are in right now is that you can wear them with jeans or a kooky skirt or all proper-like. It's eccentric-tweedy, yeah.

http://www.style.com/slideshows/fashionshows/F2004RTW/CHANEL/RUNWAY/00170f.jpg

Oh, lauren, there were some great gold 30s style sandals at bluefly, I almost got a silver pair.

teeny (teeny), Monday, 5 April 2004 15:40 (twenty-one years ago)

hells yeah! i'll check it out right now.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 5 April 2004 15:41 (twenty-one years ago)

damn, that should be
http://bluefly.speedera.net/zs.bluefly.com/mgen/Bluefly/prodImage.ms?productCode=1040239&width=157&height=188

teeny (teeny), Monday, 5 April 2004 15:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Teeny, please tell my those boots won't give you cankles, cos they look awfully thick below the calf.

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 5 April 2004 15:44 (twenty-one years ago)

cankles?

jel -- (jel), Monday, 5 April 2004 15:44 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah I saw that, I'm not too worried about it. I think they'll end up looking like a riding boot with a heel.

teeny (teeny), Monday, 5 April 2004 15:45 (twenty-one years ago)

The boots have arrived! They are the perfect shade of dark red. The wide ankle is not perfect but my feet are too big and my legs too skinny to ever find a really form-fitting zippered knee-high boot. They will look great under my sevens and my work slacks and possibly with a skirt as well.

There is a small imperfection on them though--the first time this has happened with stuff from bluefly. The left toe is a bit scuffed (although the soles are pristine) and there is a unevenness in the dye at the very top (near the knee) of the right boot, just a slightly darker blotch. Not worth sending them back for though. The color is really stellar. (the sweater is nice too.

teeny (teeny), Thursday, 8 April 2004 14:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Sounds great teeny. shame about the scuffing though!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 8 April 2004 14:22 (twenty-one years ago)

a fleuvog store opened near me. maybe this will go with my new dandy obsession... http://www.fluevog.com/code/images/00000234_thumb.jpg

lolita corpus (lolitacorpus), Friday, 9 April 2004 05:51 (twenty-one years ago)

I haven't been that concerned with clothing lately--but a quick jaunt along 16th street on my way to meet C. today changed all that. I really couldn't stop because I'm always late to meet C. and it is so embarassing (wasn't late today though though might as well have been bc she didn't see me). First, saw cute clothes at Anthropoligie! No, really. I even stopped for the moment to do a double take of one of the skirts in the window display -- it featured both apples and cherries (I think) in a very pseudo thrift store rip-off fashion (though priced Anthro-accordingly no-doubt) though slightly ruined (perhaps, not sure, couldn't stop to inspect it) by a green and white striping thing that set off the middle --they couldn't just let perfection be. Apple and cherry prints on clothes: what more does a girl need? Then, I saw through the door of Agnès B. the piece de resistance: a Mondrian-inspired frock. Yes, Sarah P. would have us mail-order it custom made from some tailor in Wisconsin; however: Agnès B. + Mondrian~! Couldn't stop though. Came home and checked the Website: color panels are black, yellow, pink, and grey and it is leather, a very suitable summer material. The Website is too humble to state the price, so I will have to wait to see if this dress in the realm of affordability. Cons: AB always prices Americans out of her garments, leather always adds an extra twist, and the Mondrian dress is a bit rare, SP to the contrary. Pros: It's very little material, so maybe they won't charge that much for it (sleeveless and thigh-skimming). Maybe's: Perhaps it's pleather? WIsh me luck.

Mary (Mary), Sunday, 18 April 2004 05:01 (twenty-one years ago)

http://www.hawkcave.com/gallery/daredevil/ddg_01.jpg

Cy Twombly, Sunday, 18 April 2004 05:14 (twenty-one years ago)

The Agnès B./Mondrian fits like a dream and costs $780. The smell emanating from it while wearing it made me feel like I was inside of a leather store. I considered for a moment moving back home so I could pay for the dress, but then came to my senses and bought an aqua marine cotton cardigan instead.

They are really cute-ing it up at Anthropologie. All of the skirts there looked like the patterns were taken from '50s tablecloths, so you can imagine how close this was to my own aethetic. I got the aforementioned pear and cherry print on a white background kick pleated skirt (found a version without the uncharming green stripes blocking the middle) and also got a sea green and coral pink skirt with little blue mermaids swimming on it and eyelet lace side panels (the skirt is of course shaped in the tulip/mermaid fashion). I wonder if I should weat it to the Mermaid Parade, or if someone else will have that same bright idea? I could have bought each and every of the skirts at Anthro, and may well do so before the summer is over.

Mary (Mary), Monday, 19 April 2004 23:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Now, don't get me wrong. I like the floral-and-equivalent skirts. I may even be a fan. But I object to their trendification. I may begin to strenuously object.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 00:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Maybe I should say, if you're going to wear the floral skirt, maybe you could also get rid of the denim jacket? And the platinum hair?

gabbneb (gabbneb), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 00:44 (twenty-one years ago)

But gabbnab, those are calling-cards!

Mary (Mary), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 01:07 (twenty-one years ago)

?

gabbneb (gabbneb), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 01:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Sorry, that was supposed to read, "But Gabbneb, those are my calling cards"...

Mary (Mary), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 01:39 (twenty-one years ago)

oh, "you" didn't mean you

gabbneb (gabbneb), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 02:14 (twenty-one years ago)

you can have alligators, penguins, and ponies

oh my

gabbneb (gabbneb), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 04:09 (twenty-one years ago)

That stuff at Anthropologie looks nice but.. I don't really look right in cute things & flowers... I did get some carnation pink capris today, but they're polished & hopefully not too cute. Now I wish I had some gold sandals to go with them..

Also, I have a question. How does one wear bright scarves? I have a bunch of gorgeous ones that are never worn because I don't think they're tied properly, and since I'm not French I don't know how to do this.

daria g (daria g), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 05:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Revive.. hey Teeny - Barneys New York has some Libertine stuff, says the NYT.

Also, I just wanted to mention somewhere.. early this spring, in my neighborhood I saw this girl wearing a Miss Sixty cropped denim jacket, a pair of Juicy Couture track pants with J U I C Y across the back, Ugg boots, and a trucker hat. Thanks.

daria g (daria g), Saturday, 1 May 2004 05:13 (twenty-one years ago)

ooh I missed this revival, thanks daria!

Should I really be buying another C&C shirt?

That la perla stuff is pretty but how on earth does it hold anything up?

teeny (teeny), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 14:03 (twenty-one years ago)

apparently I need two C&C shirts.

teeny (teeny), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 15:09 (twenty-one years ago)

one month passes...
I bought this for my honeymoon and I'm totally terrified of how sexy it is:
