How do I become a personal Thrift Shopper? I'm a 28 year old Thrifter with 23 years experience in the art of thrift shopping. I began thrifting with my mom years ago, when it wasn't such "a thing to do". I grew up shopping in Los Angeles which gives me an edge. As we all know it's aqn eclectic place to live and shop. I hoping I can make it a full time job. Someones' got to do it, why not me? I'm currently living in "The Valley" CA. and would like to personal shop for someone. I would love to share my talent, and experience with those who love the art of Thrift Store Shopping.
If anyone can offer any info on how to I can get started, I would greatly appreciate it. I Thank You in advance for any info shared.

A Passionate Thrifter,

hi jessica,

i'm not saying it's not possible, but personal shoppers are probably one of THEE hardest jobs to get. do you have any stylist connections in hollywood? you'll need an in.

good luck!

You mean for an individual or for shops?

I noticed a few years ago that Salvation Army, St Vincents, etc, have employed some kind of filter-people. Alot of shit is scraped off the top and sold to 'vintage' re-sellers... for men, this meant finding Levi's Sta-Prest, once so common, became almost impossible.

let me explain, often when older peopel die they have ahouse full of stuff that nobody wants to clean, sort through. you provdie this 'service' and in the process you find your treasures.

also california thrift advice:

head east. bakersfield, fresno, and modesto have 5 times the selection/quality at a fraction of the price. LA and SF are completely shopped out.
