alright, yo, i'll be in SF from the 27th of February to the 3rd. Who wants to either show me around, or have a beer or six?

Kingfish Funyun (Kingfish), Saturday, 7 February 2004 21:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Sorry, only three beers total.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 7 February 2004 21:21 (twenty-two years ago)

whatever. i'll drink the other three.

Kingfish Funyun (Kingfish), Saturday, 7 February 2004 21:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Have mucho fun JD (as if you won't), and don't grope the locals w/o asking first....

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Saturday, 7 February 2004 21:44 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll drink beer with you, Mr Fish.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Saturday, 7 February 2004 21:52 (twenty-two years ago)

I won't show you around though. I don't know my way around at all.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Saturday, 7 February 2004 22:07 (twenty-two years ago)

surely, SOME sf'ers like PBR!

Eisbär (llamasfur), Saturday, 7 February 2004 22:18 (twenty-two years ago)

my travelling buddy who'll be accompanying me claims that it's not worth it to rent a car, either. hmm. oh well.

Kingfish Funyun (Kingfish), Saturday, 7 February 2004 22:19 (twenty-two years ago)

It's worth renting a car to drive up Taylor, put it in neutral when you reach the top of the hill and hurtle down several blocks at speed until you just fly off into the bay. Beats the Milennium Coaster at Cedars Point every time.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Saturday, 7 February 2004 22:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Just in time for the Alternative Press Expo!

Leee Majors (Leee), Saturday, 7 February 2004 23:02 (twenty-two years ago)

I want to go!

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Saturday, 7 February 2004 23:13 (twenty-two years ago)

To the APE, @d@m?

Leee Majors (Leee), Sunday, 8 February 2004 18:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah!

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Sunday, 8 February 2004 18:20 (twenty-two years ago)

two weeks pass...
Looks like the APE happened this weekend, but Noise Pop is going on while I'm there.

Who wants to go see the Jandek documentary?

Kingfish Beatbox (Kingfish), Sunday, 22 February 2004 22:42 (twenty-two years ago)

me

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Sunday, 22 February 2004 22:48 (twenty-two years ago)

woo. beer time!

Kingfish Beatbox (Kingfish), Sunday, 22 February 2004 22:50 (twenty-two years ago)

It's so worth renting a car. I got one w/a cd player for a whole week and it only cost 100 bucks. Didn't have it the last few days I was there and that blew monkey dick.

oops (Oops), Monday, 23 February 2004 05:13 (twenty-two years ago)

right then, so anybody who wants to meet up or have a FAP or a beer or whatthehellever, email me at jdsalmon[at]mail.com

perhaps something can be worked out.

Kingfish Beatbox (Kingfish), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 20:26 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm working the devandra bernhart/joanna newsome NP show (i think). come by and drink beer.

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 20:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Gygax, when/where is that show?

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 20:47 (twenty-two years ago)

what day? the only NP shows i know for certain i'm gunna hit is the Jandek showing.

and maybe the Wrens show that night, but i'm still not sure.

Kingfish Beatbox (Kingfish), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 20:48 (twenty-two years ago)

When/where is the Jandek movie? I would like to try and come out for that.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 20:49 (twenty-two years ago)

I have paid no attention to the NoisePop schedule, obv.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 20:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Okay,

Saturday February 28, 1 p.m.
Jandek On Corwood
"The longest-running, weirdest, loneliest enigma in popular music is a guy from Texas who calls himself Jandek." So begins a 1997 Boston Phoenix article by Douglas Wolk. From the bluesy, atonal music and haunting lyrics, to the artist's steadfast seclusion and sheer longevity, everything about this man intrigues. Twenty-five years, 34 albums, and not a single live show or public appearance. Even the simple detail of the man's real name is a mystery. Jandek on Corwood is the 88-minute documentary that explores this man, his world and his music.

I work Saturdays, if I can keep this job that long. So that might not be possible for me. And then again...it MIGHT...

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 20:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Break free, sir.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 21:02 (twenty-two years ago)

extended lunch break!

Kingfish Beatbox (Kingfish), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 21:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Devendra Banhart, Joanna Newsom, Vetiver, Coco Rosie
Swedish American Hall (upstairs at the cafe du nord)
7:30/8 PM, $10, ALL AGES

My NP buddy asked me to help her out @ this show, but I may have other plans... eek!

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 21:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Is Devendra playing LA anytime soon, I wonder? Hm...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 21:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I highly recommend Joanna Newsome too (she should have a duet with Gavin)... She's great. Saw her open up for (smog) last year and talked about her with the owner of her record label who was really excited about putting her records out.

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 21:23 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm here! sushi so far, cheap beer tonight at some place called "Sadie's Flying Elephant"!

anyway, if anybody's around tomorrow afternoon, head to the Jandek docu at 1pm, at some ATA place. "artists tv access" or somesuch.

Kingfish Beatbox (Kingfish), Saturday, 28 February 2004 05:38 (twenty-two years ago)

On Tuesday you could say hi to Matthew Dear at Amoeba and Club Six.

Aaron W (Aaron W), Saturday, 28 February 2004 05:47 (twenty-two years ago)

we shall see.

Kingfish Beatbox (Kingfish), Saturday, 28 February 2004 05:49 (twenty-two years ago)

On Tuesday you could say hi to Matthew Dear at Amoeba and Club Six.

Really? I would love to, but I have a ummm, prior engagement. fuck. What time is he at Amoeba?

Kingfish, I planned to make it for Jandek but I had a hellish day at work. Errrr, hope you're enjoying yourself. It was a beeeyoootiful day today.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Sunday, 29 February 2004 08:51 (twenty-two years ago)

that's cool. the docu was spooooky, and about 15 minutes too long.

still, i managed to meet up with Leee tonight. he wound up coming bowling with us. fun was had by all.

also, we saw a hairless cat in the sci-fi bookstore on Valencia. Creeeepy.

Kingfish Beatbox (Kingfish), Sunday, 29 February 2004 09:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Aja (aja), Monday, 1 March 2004 00:56 (twenty-two years ago)

I ain't going to none of these shows (if I wasn't working I might have gone to the Matthew Dear thing, but I'm not taking the night off to see him) but I'll do a bar crawl or whatever if it's on a weekend night (sorry I missed the one in early January, but I'd just gotten back from Europe and was way too out of it to leave my house for more than a few seconds.)

(x-post: Swervedriver hahaha)
