Last night, were they down in the lab?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 7 February 2004 23:55 (twenty-two years ago)

whuh?

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Sunday, 8 February 2004 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

(I am being fusty and making an Iggy Pop/"Funtime" joke.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 8 February 2004 00:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, you old rocker you.

The idea of a cat called "Henry's Cat" was a real masterstroke I feel. everyone should do this with their pets.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Sunday, 8 February 2004 00:01 (twenty-two years ago)

MASTERSTROKE THEM!

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Sunday, 8 February 2004 00:02 (twenty-two years ago)

yes, i like that it is henry's cat, but his friend, chris rabbit, gets to be known by his own name instead of his owner. we never saw henry himself did we. the narrator was good too. there were some almost pinteresque pauses in it if i remember rightly. mark s once interviewed bob godfrey i believe

Stringent Stepper (Stringent), Sunday, 8 February 2004 10:17 (twenty-two years ago)

He was a mellow, yellow feline. Also, he was the mascot of the bank account I had with the Halifax as a kid. Well done him.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Sunday, 8 February 2004 10:31 (twenty-two years ago)

He totally pissed me off, but I kinda liked the theme tune.

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 8 February 2004 11:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Chris Rabbit talks just like 'er from Skunk Anansie

stevem (blueski), Sunday, 8 February 2004 11:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Weren't there two theme tunes? Early ones had a slow, plodding one, and later ones had a fast-paced one that went whistle-whistle-whistle meow etc.

I always thought Henry's Cat looked like a retarded Rhubarb (the similarly poorly drawn dog).

edward o (edwardo), Sunday, 8 February 2004 12:33 (twenty-two years ago)

You can download the themes from here

I had a henry's cat duvet as a child. it was covered in words of wisdom from the Cat. Also, very soft.

On Monday I made a CD to cheer myself up and I put the Henry's Cat theme on it!

Tom (Groke), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 16:00 (twenty years ago)

we did actually see Henry - once. Someone wrote to Points of View to ask what Henry looked like, and Bob Godfrey kindly obliged and drew him specially.

MarkH (MarkH), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 20:07 (twenty years ago)

AND...?

Felix Leiter (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 20:08 (twenty years ago)

A rotund, avuncular figure in a brown jacket iirc.

Tom: according to this, there were three diffrent theme tunes....

MarkH (MarkH), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 20:10 (twenty years ago)

I really need a clip of him saying "mowwwwwwwww" to play to my wife.

Felix Leiter (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 20:12 (twenty years ago)

or "owwwww deeeear". followed by a deadpan "said henry's cat".

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 20:13 (twenty years ago)

Whereas Roobarb was voiced by Richard Briers, Henry's Cat was voiced by John Major.

MarkH (MarkH), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 20:17 (twenty years ago)

Yes! I need "said henry's cat"!

Felix Leiter (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 20:19 (twenty years ago)

Meeee-oowwwww

Si.C@rter (SiC@rter), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 20:32 (twenty years ago)

jed_ (jed), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 20:48 (twenty years ago)

Maybe he's afraid.

Felix Leiter (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 20:48 (twenty years ago)

As soon as I saw this thread title I started whistling the theme song. Now it'll probably be stuck in my head all freaking day!

Product of Australia / Kate (papa november), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 20:53 (twenty years ago)
