It's silly really but I am happy to hear Tom's feeling productive and *up*. What else made me smile? My friend. We had a really nice chat today.

Resolving an arugment with my guy at lunch before it actually turned into an argument. Peace, love and understanding is always smile- worthy.

The thing that made me smile today was sitting around in the pub making silly jokes with one of my oldest friends. And singing a strange song (Hey Dougal, stinky poo poo hound) to my dog to which he started laughing, in a dog type way.

Oh and the Sum 41 song cheers up my cynical ears.

James' doggy song and resultant doggy laugh made me laugh.

Nothing yet. I'm going to see Bjork tonight, so should be smiling later.

I talked to a girl who I know from the net and she told me a story about her being in school. Her french teacher asked her to give her a sentence in english to translate into french and she said "I wish I wasn't here".

I'm sad for even recounting this story. But I loved it. It's not especially amazingly intelligent......but still.......

I was feeling horrid and my best friend yelled, "Whine at me, damnit!"

My friend Karen said to me, "hey, NICE body!" and I said "What, this old thing?". Also she said, "oh, WHERE are my glasses? I can't find my glasses, rainy..." and she was wearing them. I am squiggly today.

I walked out of the post office and saw some scrawny high school kid with pink hair and a Marilyn Manson t-shirt having a confrontation with some big bully type. Scrawny kid raises his skateboard at the guy and the bully's girl companion pulls him away. As he's retreating, he calls the little kid a "bitch-ass nigga". The whole thing was fucking hilarious.

Being given two free tickets to Depeche Mode, until I actually saw Depeche Mode, at which point I stopped smiling.

DG, Wednesday, 17 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

There is a curious problem with your assertion, DG, that I must protest against. It is possible you are mentally ill.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 17 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

unshine made me mile today, and the thought of indulging in an ice cream - or lemonade iceblock because they cure all ills.

My first coffee today made me smile. Sometime I smile for no apparent reason, it gets creepy when I laugh though :)

Menelaus Darcy, Thursday, 18 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Reading my posting made from the dud computer/ keyboard at arc made me smile too

Menelaus Darcy, Thursday, 18 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

yesterday it was my friends bitching about each other, and Mogwai, playing loud and mad at Maida Vale.

Today so far Fabien Barthez has made me chuckle quite a bit.

chris, Thursday, 18 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'll second that about Barthez, those clips I saw this morning made me laugh out loud.

Jonathan, Thursday, 18 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Antmusic!

Sarah, Thursday, 18 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Well, Ned, first - I'm not a particular fan of Depeche Mode, they're alright but I don't love them and having seen both bands in less than a week I can safely say NEW ORDER ARE BETTER, and second - Wembley Arena is NO SMOKING! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!

DG, Thursday, 18 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

People who shouldn't be checking me out checking me out.

Ally, Thursday, 18 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Dunkin Donuts coffee. That and sneaking my way back into BMG after they sliced off the College Reps.

bnw, Thursday, 18 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Hehehe. I just read through the Blur Or Gorrilaz thread again. THAT made me smile.

Ooh, and have you seen those new tiny Bic biros? They made me smile as well.
