Because you demanded it... Ally Sheedy: Classic or Dud?

I believe there is probably a rule round here that says if an individual is discussed on three different threads then a thread must me started about them. And as the divine Ms Sheedy has been touched upon in the John Hughes thread, the Steve Guttenberg thread and the novelisations thread - this is her moment.

Now see it turn into a discussion on chemical toilets or something.

Classic until you put her next to Molly Ringwald.

The first and only time I got dragged up (Halloween 1990, Reed College, Portland - I even shaved my legs) I was told I was the dead spit of Ms Sheedy. So classic, indupitably.

Dud! She stole my name!

Ally, Tuesday, 3 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Oh how disappointing, I thought you were her.

chris, Tuesday, 3 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

(Such odd looking breasts!) Did you see "High Art" ?

Mike Hanle y, Tuesday, 3 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Yes, a friend of mine worked on that movie. Once you get past the strange pacing, and the creepy feeling that you already know all these people, it's a great flick.

High Art was ace, but Ally was just plumb awful in Sugartown. I thought, "well, there goes that comeback." Allison Anders, what a hack.

Did anyone see Ally in Hedwig and the Angry Inch? Very brave of her.

six months pass...
ally sheedy rocks! haven't you ever seen the breakfast club? she was always the 'edgy" brat-packer, and i was glad that she made such a triumphant return in high art, after a series of lesser roles. also, i must disagree with whomever, i found sugartown to be very entertaining. i love the scene where she wears the smock on the date. like jonathan bernstein said in "pretty in pink", she should have had jennifer jason leigh's career. it's infortunate she made a lot of bad movies in the late eighties, but imho, she is back on track.

Didn't she act rather tragically nutty when she briefly did Hedwig and the Angry Inch -- going way off script and what not?

Michael Daddino, Thursday, 24 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Art! Allegedly.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 24 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah, that's the name Stephen's trying to find.

Tracer Hand, Thursday, 24 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

classic in breakfast club. dud in short circuit.

di, Thursday, 24 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

classic of course, although i feel we're overlooking the influence of Kerri Green of Lucas and The Goonies fame.

Wyndham Earl, Thursday, 24 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

She was nice to mice. Allegedly.
