With the third series of 24 due to start in the UK on thursday will anyone be watching it complete with adverts?

Davel (Davel), Monday, 9 February 2004 13:08 (twenty-two years ago)

i will record it using Sky Plus, no ads for me - yayness!

stevem (blueski), Monday, 9 February 2004 13:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Ooh, I'd say they might, Dave.

I won't, because

a) I don't have Sky;
b) I only ever watch the last three episodes of 24 with something approximating enjoyment anyway

Hey Dave! How was the 2nd series? L told me the ending to the first series on Friday nite!! (btw, you can come round & watch it on Thursdays, because I forgot about the existence of E4+1 for friends & er!)

I thought this thread was going to detail a radical new plan for world peace in which we all worked a really intensive three day week.

Fuck Sky.

I thought this thread was about the ratio of failed music journalists to successful ones.

omg, Monday, 9 February 2004 13:35 (twenty-two years ago)

oooh so close!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 9 February 2004 13:36 (twenty-two years ago)

"This is the longest three months of Jack Bauer's life"

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 9 February 2004 15:10 (twenty-two years ago)

three long months? ooh i say

"right now my editor is plotting against the United States...my colleagues may or may not be involved...and i have this feature on shuffletech to finish by Friday..."

I can't bloody wait any longer.

Half of me really wants it to be Sky One's most viewed show ever and ends up with the recognition it deserves in this country; the other half wants it to fail miserably and be pulled from the schedules halfway through so next season's run can be shown on the BBC where it deserves to be.

Has anyone in the history of television ever said "nah, that's got adverts, I'm not watching it?"

I'll be watching. The good thing with it not being on the BBC is that they (presumably) then won't instantly cut onto three quarters of an hour of Natalie Casey going "by 'eck, that Kim's a right silly moo in't she?" etc etc.

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 11:37 (twenty-two years ago)

ha ha - some ironing there in that you might expect Sky to come up with something far more inane

i don't plan to watch any of them 'live' as it were but will record them and watch them in batches, skipping the adverts

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 11:46 (twenty-two years ago)

oi, watson, no! poor pure 24 was the BEST THING about the last series, how many inappropriate Z-listers can you get in one room at once????

i have no desire to watch this but no doubt will.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 12:22 (twenty-two years ago)

I actually quite liked Pure 24, but only because none of my friends watch 24 and I had to get my (somewhat vicarious) chat about it elsewhere (this was pre-ilx, obviously).

There's nothing to stop BBC3 still doing it is there? Z-listers can all watch Sky then just chat about it.

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 12:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Except the BBC pretending it isn't happening.
I think Channel 5 are showing it from April too. But I'm unlikely to grab this Sky version. Boo.

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 13:28 (twenty-two years ago)

So, did anybody actually watch it on Sky? Or are we all downloading via bittorrent/waiting for the DVD/waiting for it to be on Channel 4 or Five?

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Friday, 13 February 2004 02:24 (twenty-two years ago)

i thought this had something to do with the 7, 14, 21 up series...
