Read the X-Entertainment exposes on the Corey Haim Video Diary (there's the long and the short), and then turn your cable televisions to E! Entertainment Television at 8 PM (EST) to see MORE Corey!

David Raposa, Wednesday, 17 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

A quote from the E! True Hollywood Story, from the Haimster - "The '80s were my life. Just the genre of the '80s was just amazing."

Television at its finest! (Feel free to MUTATE.)

David Raposa, Wednesday, 17 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Potentially very entertaining, oh yes...but I'd rather see the Corey Feldman story. ;-)

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 17 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I read both articles, and I kinda want to see it now. Corey looks sort of cute too; how old is he there, at least 18 I hope?!

Sean, Wednesday, 17 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Bastard! Turns out the Corey Feldman story *was* right before the Haim one, I'm seeing the end credits right now! Grr, grr! Far too chirpy ending, though. WHERE ARE THE DRUGS? Far, far too clean cut looking.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 17 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I was sooooo confused. mY cable guide said "cory feldman" and I thought "wasn't it supposed to be cory haim???"

but our cable is so fucked up. we only got it a week ago and still can't see the movie channels we paid for.

WTF!?!?!?

Sam-at-home, Wednesday, 17 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ha, we watched that and then I come here to find you were actually encouraging us to! Well, I gotta admit, it was the best thing on. That bit about him stumbling random words out, high on painkillers, in front of the camera was hilarious. I think he said this exactly, "Yeah, it was Canada... y'know...so it's... less than zero, ha ha... Extra! Extra! Read all about it... y'know... ha, ha..."

Nude Spock, Wednesday, 17 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The whole thing is very strange (15 minutes to go). At no time were any of those fashions fashionable, surely. And I love all these crap straight-to-video films as well -- _Prayer of the Rollerboys_, with him looking like a bizarre extra from "The Wild Boys" as an Offspring skate rat fan or something. My head! My head!

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 17 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Actually, *fuck* Corey Haim -- next up is the Scotty Schwartz story. From Flick in _A Christmas Story_ to cheesy porn, now *that's* my idea of a career arc!

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 17 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

David Raposa, Saturday, 27 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Mike Hanle y, Saturday, 27 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

You know why? Because he had Posh Spice in his mouth. Oh yes.

Jaymc, come on. Oh wait my husband hadnt heard from him either. I doubt I am the only 35+ person why knows him. :-)

Nathalie (stevienixed), Wednesday, 10 March 2010 23:48 (fifteen years ago)

I don't think there are that many people under 25 who have heard of him either.

admrl, Wednesday, 10 March 2010 23:54 (fifteen years ago)

I've heard and seen lots of him w/out seeing a single film he was in.

Fusty Moralizer (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 11 March 2010 03:47 (fifteen years ago)

He was cute and charming in Lucas. Dat's dat.

The Magnificent Colin Firth (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 11 March 2010 04:00 (fifteen years ago)

I don't think there are that many people under 25 who have heard of him either.

True. My 26-year-old girlfriend hadn't heard of him, either.

I just thought it was funny that one of my co-workers, who's probably around my age (31), was mourning the death of her 5th-grade crush, and our boss was like, "wtf are you guys talking about."

Let "Free Dom" ring (jaymc), Thursday, 11 March 2010 04:25 (fifteen years ago)

I've never seen a movie he's been in, either. A friend and I went to see Twins while his sister and her friend saw Dream a Little Dream.

Let "Free Dom" ring (jaymc), Thursday, 11 March 2010 04:27 (fifteen years ago)

Only movie I've seen with this guy in it is Lost Boys. Much more familiar with other Cory's, uh, body of work.

is lost boys really just a thing for us post-25 old farts (or more like post-30)?!? not that it's an unimpeachable classic, but i thought that it has some cult cache and that even the young 'uns might have watched it on cable or something (kinda like how i watched clockwork orange or easy rider even though both were before my time).

Jonsi's on a vacation far away (Eisbaer), Thursday, 11 March 2010 05:34 (fifteen years ago)

nope sorry lol u old ;)

figgy pudding (La Lechera), Thursday, 11 March 2010 05:40 (fifteen years ago)

I have to admit, I was all "which Corey is he again?", and I've seen the Lost Boys heaps.

ABBAcab (Trayce), Thursday, 11 March 2010 05:46 (fifteen years ago)

It was the other Corey in Goonies
x-post

I really dig Lucas and the Lost Boys and find License To Drive is a fun cheesy 80s comedy. RIP

ColinO, Thursday, 11 March 2010 05:51 (fifteen years ago)

That Me, Myself, and I video is so creepy, y'all. His facial expressions, and the way he talks haven't changed since he was, like, 12. Imagine if you were your age now (which I assume is >12) but you acted like you did when you were 12 because your development as a person was basically stopped at that point. That's what he was like! Scary.

Also I can't believe how limited his viewership was. Well, I can, but it's kind of amazing.

figgy pudding (La Lechera), Thursday, 11 March 2010 05:57 (fifteen years ago)

I kept this thread bookmarked since last Wednesday to watch that video. He was 17 years old in it and he filmed it right after coming out of rehab.

it's an old pantyhound, that's who (Jesse), Tuesday, 16 March 2010 04:07 (fifteen years ago)

financial legacy? uh..

ironically, one of the listed search tags for CH is "richest child actors"

Could it be that what remained after his one-time fortune was devoured by unscrupulous hangers-on was squandered on vast quantities of hard drugs? Sad that the dude's life & career arc will always be subsumed under the same LOL Child Actor Gone Off the Rails cliche it helped to inspire.

A capella key change in "Hold On" by Wilson Phillips (Pillbox), Tuesday, 30 March 2010 01:20 (fifteen years ago)

Strange, I thought he had about 78000 dollars in "residual income." (I think this refers to income earned from past films, for example percentage on DVD sales and such?)

Nathalie (stevienixed), Tuesday, 30 March 2010 13:24 (fifteen years ago)

Yeesh:

In the weeks before his death from a suspected accidental overdose, actor Corey Haim went “doctor shopping” and obtained at least 553 pills of powerful prescription medications from seven different doctors and as many different pharmacies, California’s attorney general said Tuesday.

Atty. Gen. Jerry Brown said that Haim visited physicians at offices, urgent-care facilities and emergency rooms to obtain the potential deadly collection of pills and on one occasion used an alias.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 6 April 2010 19:28 (fifteen years ago)

Investigators released a report confirming that from Feb. 2 to March 5 -- five days before he died – the star of such movies as the “Lost Boys” and “License to Drive” obtained more than 195 tablets of Valium, 194 tablets of Soma, 149 tablets of Vicodin and 15 tablets of Xanax.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 6 April 2010 19:28 (fifteen years ago)

four years pass...

Weird to look back at this and realize that Jerry Brown was the guy giving the formal report.

Anyway...uh, memories?
