― Nathalie (stevienixed), Wednesday, 10 March 2010 23:48 (fifteen years ago)
I don't think there are that many people under 25 who have heard of him either.
― admrl, Wednesday, 10 March 2010 23:54 (fifteen years ago)
I've heard and seen lots of him w/out seeing a single film he was in.

― The Magnificent Colin Firth (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 11 March 2010 04:00 (fifteen years ago)
True. My 26-year-old girlfriend hadn't heard of him, either.
I just thought it was funny that one of my co-workers, who's probably around my age (31), was mourning the death of her 5th-grade crush, and our boss was like, "wtf are you guys talking about."
― Let "Free Dom" ring (jaymc), Thursday, 11 March 2010 04:25 (fifteen years ago)
I've never seen a movie he's been in, either. A friend and I went to see Twins while his sister and her friend saw Dream a Little Dream.
― Let "Free Dom" ring (jaymc), Thursday, 11 March 2010 04:27 (fifteen years ago)
Only movie I've seen with this guy in it is Lost Boys. Much more familiar with other Cory's, uh, body of work.

is lost boys really just a thing for us post-25 old farts (or more like post-30)?!? not that it's an unimpeachable classic, but i thought that it has some cult cache and that even the young 'uns might have watched it on cable or something (kinda like how i watched clockwork orange or easy rider even though both were before my time).

I have to admit, I was all "which Corey is he again?", and I've seen the Lost Boys heaps.

It was the other Corey in Gooniesx-post
I really dig Lucas and the Lost Boys and find License To Drive is a fun cheesy 80s comedy. RIP
― ColinO, Thursday, 11 March 2010 05:51 (fifteen years ago)
That Me, Myself, and I video is so creepy, y'all. His facial expressions, and the way he talks haven't changed since he was, like, 12. Imagine if you were your age now (which I assume is >12) but you acted like you did when you were 12 because your development as a person was basically stopped at that point. That's what he was like! Scary.
Also I can't believe how limited his viewership was. Well, I can, but it's kind of amazing.
― figgy pudding (La Lechera), Thursday, 11 March 2010 05:57 (fifteen years ago)
I kept this thread bookmarked since last Wednesday to watch that video. He was 17 years old in it and he filmed it right after coming out of rehab.

financial legacy? uh..
ironically, one of the listed search tags for CH is "richest child actors"
Could it be that what remained after his one-time fortune was devoured by unscrupulous hangers-on was squandered on vast quantities of hard drugs? Sad that the dude's life & career arc will always be subsumed under the same LOL Child Actor Gone Off the Rails cliche it helped to inspire.

Strange, I thought he had about 78000 dollars in "residual income." (I think this refers to income earned from past films, for example percentage on DVD sales and such?)

Yeesh:
In the weeks before his death from a suspected accidental overdose, actor Corey Haim went “doctor shopping” and obtained at least 553 pills of powerful prescription medications from seven different doctors and as many different pharmacies, California’s attorney general said Tuesday.Atty. Gen. Jerry Brown said that Haim visited physicians at offices, urgent-care facilities and emergency rooms to obtain the potential deadly collection of pills and on one occasion used an alias.

Investigators released a report confirming that from Feb. 2 to March 5 -- five days before he died – the star of such movies as the “Lost Boys” and “License to Drive” obtained more than 195 tablets of Valium, 194 tablets of Soma, 149 tablets of Vicodin and 15 tablets of Xanax.
Weird to look back at this and realize that Jerry Brown was the guy giving the formal report.
Anyway...uh, memories?
