What does "chuffed" mean?

I tried looking it up in online slang dictionaries, couldn't find it. I usually see it in phrases like "I was chuffed to discover that blah, blah, blah...". I'm guessing it's either pleased or displeased...

Chuffed means that you're really pleased about something. E.g. "I was really chuffed when Kylie beat Posh in the charts."

Might as well ask it here. Recent Aphex Twin interview he tells about this submarine he has bought and goes: "It's pukka!" Probably means something like ace, right?

pukka = older than JO, tho: means "kewl" if you happen to be a G&T swillin' old colonel who pines for the raj, eg like "bungalow" it is borrowed from the tongues of india

What about "gobsmacked"? Does it mean pleasantly surprised? I can't imagine what would be pleasurable about being smacked by gob, though. I once read an interview with Julia Roberts in which she declared herself "gobsmacked" to be in Britain making Notting Hill with Hugh Grant. I couldn't believe she actually said that.
