Vids - Classic Or Dud

No, this isn't about the merits of VHS, I'm talking about the (now deceased) late night Channel4 video review show, which was possibly the best thing on television ever anywhere. Did anyone here watch it?

I don't know what you're talking about DG.

Vids was ace, is it definitely deceased - as in not coming back - rather than sleeping - as in end of series?

I rarely, if ever, agreed with their reviews but it was a brilliant show which goes to show you don't need a huge budget to make entertaining TV (no, you need a crazed swearing Welshman and a dour Scot)

It was a UK-only thing, sadly, but you can get a taste of it here.

Okay that looks frightening.

Apparently, jamesmichaelward, it is no more, and let's face it if Bits has been cancelled, and that was way more popular than Vids, it's safe to assume the Vids rumours are true.

DG, Wednesday, 17 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Bah! Bits was only popular because they used the clever trick of having foxy girls presenting it. Vids was way better, I'm actually annoyed now, which is stupid because I'd not even thought about Vids since it was last on.

Damn you DG for making me think about it again and therefore cause me to mourn its death. Damn you to hell! Damn all ILE!

I thought the scripts I read were funny.

Yes, but only when very drunk. It seemed very funny, but so do lots of things when I'm pissed.

It was one of the strangest things I've ever seen. But worth it for the manic welshman. And the fact that Miki from Lush had a hand in the theme tune, apparently :)

It was ace. I shall miss it. It had wude bits and everything.
