Perhaps.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 12 February 2004 05:29 (twenty-two years ago)

I read about this! Probably more worthy of the school's money than the Fencing or Anime club.

christhamrin (christhamrin), Thursday, 12 February 2004 06:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey maybe Sterling can contribute if he ends up going to Harvard!

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Thursday, 12 February 2004 07:15 (twenty-two years ago)

The name "H-Bomb", by the way, comes from Harvard slang for mentioning where you go to school so that you will score big with your sexual prey. People who use this term do not generally have fulfilling sex lives.

Colin Meeder (Mert), Thursday, 12 February 2004 12:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Whereas if you say you're from St. John's it's orgy city?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 12 February 2004 14:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Bingo!

Colin Meeder (Mert), Thursday, 12 February 2004 14:08 (twenty-two years ago)

You swinger you.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 12 February 2004 14:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Colin is completely OTM with the caveat that if you are a wealthy, attractive legacy (as a good acquaintence of mine was), you could probably get laid even if you tattooed the words ""CUNTSUCKERS" on your lips.

H-bomb makes me think of the herpes virus.

Jeanne Fury (Jeanne Fury), Thursday, 12 February 2004 14:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Dan, i think you should contribute an article on the art of bootyflaking.

Chris V (Chris V), Thursday, 12 February 2004 14:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Here we go.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 12 February 2004 14:46 (twenty-two years ago)

ARGH

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 12 February 2004 16:31 (twenty-two years ago)

"What we are proposing is an outlet for literary and artistic expression that is both desired and needed, not a pornographic magazine," it read.

Also handy for hand exercises in the toilets, natch. Adding tiny bottles of lube to the mag could be Harvard's ace in the hole.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Thursday, 12 February 2004 16:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey Dan Perry isn't the only freaky Har-vert on the boards.

Just the most open about it.

Begs2Differ (Begs2Differ), Thursday, 12 February 2004 16:34 (twenty-two years ago)

I am imaging adding tiny bottles of lube to the stalls of the Science Center and dying with laughter.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 12 February 2004 18:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh god, is this the "Americans can only wank with lube" thing again??

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 12 February 2004 18:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm quite happy to give any yanks (pun intended) tips (written, not, um, practical) on how to do it dry if they haven't figured it out yet.

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 12 February 2004 18:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh god, is this the "Americans can only wank with lube" thing again??

Nope, tis "showing Dan slippery love" day.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Thursday, 12 February 2004 18:22 (twenty-two years ago)

I was thinking more "the guys who dodge security so they can cruise each other in the basement of the Science Center would snatch up that lube like it was candy-flavored crack".

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 12 February 2004 18:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Good Will Hunting takes on a whole new meaning.

Chris V (Chris V), Thursday, 12 February 2004 18:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Tis a safer version of Central Park

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Thursday, 12 February 2004 18:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 20:27 (twenty-one years ago)

BOSTON, Massachusetts (AP) -- Harvard University has approved a student magazine about sex that will feature art, sex advice and fiction -- as well as photographs of undressed Harvard undergraduates.

But what about HOTT naked PhD candidates??!!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 21:10 (twenty-one years ago)

A-Bomb.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 21:13 (twenty-one years ago)

I met Summers at a function during the DNC and thought he was an asshat. Nice to see confirmation of that first impression.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 21:15 (twenty-one years ago)

My new(d) school is putting out a sex mag also.

Leeeter van den Hoogenband (Leee), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 21:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought U of Chicago students all looked like Milton Friedman. Nobody needs to see that naked.

milozauckerman (miloaukerman), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 21:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Okay, I couldn't be bothered to start a new thread, anyhow, I have a question about the Harvard method of referencing.

Is it true that all the single author articles should be grouped together, then the dual author ones and so on. Same with books. This makes no sense to me, I just thought you made a neat alphabetical list of all your sources, not breaking into poxy sections.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 1 June 2005 17:53 (twenty years ago)

In a way, that suggests to me that single author things are better than dual authors, which isn't necessarily true.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 1 June 2005 17:56 (twenty years ago)

I think I had to write maybe three papers that had references in my entire academic career at Harvard and that was 10 years ago, so I don't remember.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 1 June 2005 17:58 (twenty years ago)

this is the most random thread revival ever!

i'm not familiar with the harvard style, but groups by author number are not explicitly mentioned in this guide. the closest it says is that "The references are arranged alphabetically by their author or by title if there is no specific author."

Maria (Maria), Wednesday, 1 June 2005 18:31 (twenty years ago)

I will say that I don't remember ever having to group citations the way you described; maybe you found an old style that isn't used anymore? Or it's a new style that's been introduced in the last 10 years?

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 1 June 2005 18:33 (twenty years ago)

"group author citations" = harvard code for ORGY!!!!

teeny (teeny), Wednesday, 1 June 2005 18:35 (twenty years ago)

oh, good. we're on topic again.

Maria (Maria), Wednesday, 1 June 2005 18:35 (twenty years ago)

http://www.h-bomb.org/

I don't understand exactly what makes this NOT pornography -- or at least less so than, say, Playboy. Sex is sex, no matter how big the, um, brain.

Hurting (Hurting), Wednesday, 1 June 2005 20:39 (twenty years ago)

Erotica : pornography :: graphic novel : comic book
(At least judging from the way people tend to use these terms.)

j.lu (j.lu), Wednesday, 1 June 2005 20:46 (twenty years ago)

So what do you think the chances are that the Hrdy cofounder of this mag is related to noted academic Sarah Baffer Hrdy?
