I never understood why everyone hated on Tom Arnold so much.

I think Pat Buchanan and Rush Limbaugh occasionally say some right-on things.

Matt Drudge.

Oh, and Jim Goad, natch

roger adultery (roger adultery), Thursday, 12 February 2004 07:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Oliver Stone. His movies are heavy-handed and about as subtle as getting raped with a plunger, but they're great. Plus, he's crazy (in a good way).

latebloomer (latebloomer), Thursday, 12 February 2004 07:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Stalin!

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 12 February 2004 07:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Stalin? That's the first one even I'M offended by. Well, not really, nothing 'offends' me (only girls and sissies get 'offended'), but, gosh, sailor...Stalin was an asshole.

roger adultery (roger adultery), Thursday, 12 February 2004 07:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, he shares in common with Buchanan that he tolerated Hitler at one point in his career.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Thursday, 12 February 2004 07:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Maybe we should start a thread called "Perv Movie Directors". Excluding Stone. He's just crazy, not a perv.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Thursday, 12 February 2004 07:16 (twenty-two years ago)

roger adultery (roger adultery), Thursday, 12 February 2004 08:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Sharpton = Buchanan, really. Both idiots with some good oneliners.

Sym (shmuel), Thursday, 12 February 2004 08:20 (twenty-two years ago)

But of course I still disagree - what do you get from Sharpton, besides a good laugh?

Drudge = genius

roger adultery (roger adultery), Thursday, 12 February 2004 08:21 (twenty-two years ago)

ah, how I miss being able to watch Dr. Gene Scott threaten his viewers with discontinuing his broadcast unless the faithful send him a boatload of cash now so that he can continue his lectures on electromagnetic mind control and the secrets of the pyramids.

jack cole (jackcole), Thursday, 12 February 2004 08:23 (twenty-two years ago)

That's a very low standard of genius you're using there.
xpost

Sym (shmuel), Thursday, 12 February 2004 08:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Why do you like Buchanan, anyways?

Sym (shmuel), Thursday, 12 February 2004 08:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Bobby Knight

earlnash, Thursday, 12 February 2004 08:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I appreciate that Buchanan - like Bush - means everything he's saying. He's sincere as fuck. His intentions are good. Can't say that about a lotta lefties and democrats.

and I don't get why people don't like Drudge - I guess he is kind of a pompous smartass, but he is as close to a revolutionary as we've seen these past 25 years.

Truth be told, I guess I just dig pariahs. My senior thesis was on Amiri Baraka.

But I don't dig pariahs enough to enjoy Sharpton on ANY level. Maybe I just remember the Tawana Brawley case a little too clearly

mike bott, Thursday, 12 February 2004 08:32 (twenty-two years ago)

"like bush"
Pat actually came off really well in Hunter S Thompson's book, and in another book I read about the '96 primary. I've heard him say some smart things about Israel, too. But y'know, holocaust denial. And what's so revolutionary or genius about drudge?

Sym (shmuel), Thursday, 12 February 2004 08:36 (twenty-two years ago)

william bennett
paul brownell

Nick Hornby

Sym (shmuel), Thursday, 12 February 2004 08:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Drudge - changed the face of news on the internet. Is / was used as a source by top White House brass. The first (only?) reporter to ever be sued by the White House. Proudly wears a fedora. He's totally punk.

Holocaust denial = ill advised. BUT...raising the death toll by a million every ten years = also ill advised.

Didn't Chomsky rush to defend a holocaust denier?

roger adultery (roger adultery), Thursday, 12 February 2004 08:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm no fan of Chomsky either.
BUT...raising the death toll by a million every ten years = also ill advised.
What the fuck? I see bad things in the future of this thread.

Sym (shmuel), Thursday, 12 February 2004 08:45 (twenty-two years ago)

For your edification re: Chomsky - http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0964589702/qid=1076575424//ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl14/103-1482991-5027042?v=glance&s=books&n=507846

Surely you admit that the details about the actual number of deaths are 'hazy' at best, no? I mean, it's kinda sorta established fact.

Besides, my ancestors were first to go - the gypsies got it as bad as anyone. Plus retards, gays, the elderly...i'm not going to insult your intelligence here. What bad things??

Roger Adultery.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Thursday, 12 February 2004 09:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Holocaust denial = ill advised. BUT...raising the death toll by a million every ten years = also ill advised.

Didn't Chomsky rush to defend a holocaust denier?

Chomsky wrote a foreword to a book he'd never read by someone who was seen as a holocaust denier. Read about in in Christopher Hitchens' 'Prepared for the Worst'. He did *not* 'rush to defend* a holocaust denier.

The death toll is *not* raised every ten years. Obviously more info comes out, &c -- but anyway, 'raised' by whom? When? Give examples.

I don't know if it would constitute "fan"dom, but I can't say I'm not thoroughly intrigued by Usama Bin Laden's erm "career", education (training), family history, etc.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 12 February 2004 18:44 (twenty-two years ago)

You can be intrigued by someone (as I am of the Mason family), but that does not equate with "fandom". I too find Bin Laden and Al-Zawahiri fascinating, but I'd be hardpressed to call myself a fan.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 12 February 2004 19:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Three years ago, Roberge tried to strike a bargain with a
90-year-old man from Maine for his records, but did not get a
good price. He says the man had 20,000 of them. He adds that
the old man is dead now and that when he next goes to Maine,
he will get them, he says, with a glint in his eye.

J.D. (Justyn Dillingham), Friday, 13 February 2004 05:37 (twenty-two years ago)

pete s, how is Tony Slattery "controversial"? Unless you mean that he's "controversial" because so many people have so many differing opinions about him that it's almost a case of "you either love him or you hate him" -- there's no middle ground there. If indeed that does qualify as "controversial", then yes, I can throw in my little Tony Slattery fanhood into the "controversial" mix as well.

Mellow Dee (Dee the Lurker), Friday, 13 February 2004 06:49 (twenty-two years ago)

I think if pinkpanther posted anything on this thread, people would be amazed.
