Mel Brooks? Dud or Sucks Balls

I could have been more interactive and asked "Getting High or Getting Drunk?" but then everyone would've thought I was only talking to Ro.

As it is, HIgh Anxiety is on and this is a question. Perhaps I could have watched and been stimulated but instead I went on ILE, drunk, AND smoked out. which seems infintely more fun.

So now I retire to my cozy bed and leave you all to ponder. . .

IS MEL BROOKS A DUD OR JUST A BALL SUCKER?!?!

p.s. to ro. I am not dissing you.

Sam-at-home, Wednesday, 17 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

You are drunk and weepy over missing your boyfriend. Don't worry, WE'RE you're boyfriend now!

From The Producers to most of History of the World -- Part One, I think he was actually pretty good if painfully obvious at times. After that...hm. No.

'You're boyfriend'? I must be drunk too.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 17 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Jesus H. Christ Young Frankenstein is funny.

JM, Wednesday, 17 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Big fat dud. That is, aside from the scene in Spaceballs where Dark Helmet is playing with his dolls.

Kim, Thursday, 18 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

holy freakin' smoking crap The Producers is funny.

duane, Thursday, 18 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

the producers is really funny.

ethan, Thursday, 18 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I thought Spaceballs was good, was that after History of the World? Quick check at IMDb says after. Actually, now that I have a list, I can see that I also liked Robin Hood: Men in Tights. I feel so ashamed.

I adore the producers, history of the world is good, I really like life stinks, but understand I may be alone in this. (he's really good in the princess' bride too but I think he jus cameoed in that)

Ed, Thursday, 18 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

You're right Young Frankestein rocks.

Samantha, Thursday, 18 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Annnnnnnnnnd BOOM, there goes the challop.

France Sprouting a Balzac (Noodle Vague), Friday, 2 October 2009 07:19 (sixteen years ago)

I like Mel Brooks v. much yet I sorta have to agree with that. the joeks aren't lol joeks.

iatee, Friday, 2 October 2009 07:32 (sixteen years ago)

dude, Young Frankenstein is WAY funnier than the rest of his movies. Assuming you know the orig Frankesnstein movies...

Oh.

A Patch on Blazing Saddles (Dr Morbius), Friday, 2 October 2009 07:45 (sixteen years ago)

oh, and see them with an audience, as intended.

A Patch on Blazing Saddles (Dr Morbius), Friday, 2 October 2009 07:46 (sixteen years ago)

I'm sure seeing them in their first theatrical run was awesome morbs, I'm jealous, really

iatee, Friday, 2 October 2009 07:51 (sixteen years ago)

SECOND run (c. 1978)

A Patch on Blazing Saddles (Dr Morbius), Friday, 2 October 2009 07:52 (sixteen years ago)

you missed out on the authentic experience imo, I really don't think those films were meant to be seen a room with a bunch of people from the 1970s

iatee, Friday, 2 October 2009 07:55 (sixteen years ago)

IT'S ALIVE

A Patch on Blazing Saddles (Dr Morbius), Friday, 2 October 2009 07:56 (sixteen years ago)

i saw it on it's initial theatrical run, and i "rescreened" it a couple years ago, still holds up imo

velko, Friday, 2 October 2009 08:08 (sixteen years ago)

"its"

velko, Friday, 2 October 2009 08:08 (sixteen years ago)

"He'll be very popular"

A Patch on Blazing Saddles (Dr Morbius), Friday, 2 October 2009 08:09 (sixteen years ago)

Young Frankenstein is his best, it's probably close to anybody's best.

Brewer's Bitch (darraghmac), Friday, 2 October 2009 09:17 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah no YF is really funny, and I am a young whippersnapper with my ipods and my text messages and such

ENERGY FOOD (en i see kay), Friday, 2 October 2009 09:47 (sixteen years ago)

Blazing Saddles is definitely the least funny classic comedy film I've ever seen. I found it literally tedious to sit through.

EDB, Friday, 2 October 2009 15:10 (sixteen years ago)

five years pass...

Give the governor 'Harrumph!'

piscesx, Saturday, 10 January 2015 07:20 (eleven years ago)

I hope Tracer eventually found out that Mel had nothing to do with Sherlock Holmes' Younger [sic] Brother
