Lost in Translation DVD question

Anyone with the DVD - does it have subtitles in English that translate the numerous Japanese conversations in the film? Or Japenese subtitles that actually subtle the Japanese? Just wondering, thanks.

Good question. Don't care.

ModJ (ModJ), Friday, 13 February 2004 07:57 (twenty-two years ago)

No, but it has hungarian subtitling. Seriously, check Amazon.com, it'll probably show up in the technical details.

Nathalie,

Thanks for the tip but I doubt that kind of info would be in any technical details. Coppola makes it a point NOT to offer subtitles in the movie itself when the characters speak in Japanese - I'm just wondering if this carries over into the actual subtitling for the movie itself. My guess is "No" but I'm still waiting to rent a copy for myself to verify.

ModJ - thanks for nothing. You bored or what?

Either learn Japanese or Ask Momus.

ENRQ (Enrique), Friday, 13 February 2004 09:51 (twenty-two years ago)

mine appears to have no subtitling at all. i think that the movie would not be as good if you knew what they were saying, but i suppose out of curiosity, after you had already seen it...

Do you really care what I am?

Oh God I mentioned M0mus twice in one thread. How low can I go?

NRQ (Enrique), Friday, 13 February 2004 16:49 (twenty-two years ago)

By mentioning him a third time like you did just now?

"No wait, I said it! I said it again! Oh, oh..."

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 13 February 2004 16:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Well that third time gives us some sort of intimation of how low you COULD go.

Pete (Pete), Friday, 13 February 2004 16:52 (twenty-two years ago)

btw I'd never heard of M0mus b4 I came here. And I still haven't heard his stuff. See, by de-googling his name I don't feel quite so bad.

NRQ (Enrique), Friday, 13 February 2004 16:54 (twenty-two years ago)

It would be awesome (and possibly somewhat slightly redeem the idiocy of this movie) if the close-captioning switched from english to kanji when the director was talking.

gygax! (gygax!), Friday, 13 February 2004 17:19 (twenty-two years ago)

it's not an idiotic movie
