My colleague just gave me a box of cinnamon flavour jelly beans with the above name, and no-one else likes them, unfortunately I can't stop stuffing them down my throat for that lovely hot tang of cinnamon. What will I do when they run out? There's no way I'll be able to get them over here is there?

They make other kinds as well, Mike & Ike fruit ones being my favourite.

You should try the PEENYA COLADA ones, they taste remarkably like PEENYA COLADA'S.

Apparently you CAN get them in the UK Chris, though I must say I've never seen them.

Or here.

The back of the packet features mike and ikes, marshmallow peeps (ewww) and Zours (which I think we have over here)

it's funny that there's a big splash in the corner listing them as "a fat free candy!" aren'rt most candy's of this ilk fat free?

great artwork though

Please don't tell me it was pretending Hot Tamales were Prep H suppositories.

Robert Johnson does a great version of the old dance song:

"Hot Tamales and they're ret hot!" or something like that. I know of no songs about Mike & Ike, however.

I, too, was a Hot Tamale addict. I would be today, probably, had I not bitten one in half and realized how they are constructed: red candy shell around a capsule of plasma-colored sugar goo. It was just a little too . . . prescriptive for comfort.

Lee G (Lee G), Friday, 13 February 2004 21:16 (twenty-two years ago)

I keep seeing this thread and thinking that Tamales are something like Shemales.

Just Born the company that makes hot tamales recently bought The Goldenberg candy company. they were the makers of Goldenberg peanut Chews a tasty vegan treat that philadelphians have been enjoying for generations. don't know if quality has been affected. too soon to tell. i'll keep you posted.
