Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 14 February 2004 03:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I have one almost constantly. I hear that isn't normal?

Kim (Kim), Saturday, 14 February 2004 03:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Apparently not, no.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 14 February 2004 03:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Aren't headaches absolutely wonderful?

(Note: I am currently dealing with a headache, as well.)

Mellow Dee (Dee the Lurker), Saturday, 14 February 2004 03:33 (twenty-two years ago)

I've tried everything - pinching that spot between your thumb and pointer finer, lemon juice on the temples...nothing works.

Do you guys find than any pain reliever is better than any other? I swear I think those fucking things are sugar pills or something - they've always had ZERO effect on my tension headaches

They get so bad sometime, I can HEAR my temples pumping into the pillow - fft fft fft - there's no worse feeling in the world

i find that the only thing that works is to take a long, long nap.

roger adultery (roger adultery), Saturday, 14 February 2004 04:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned, take some caffeine. It oughta help for the time being. It constricts the blood vessels, don't you know?!

Francis Watlington (Francis Watlington), Saturday, 14 February 2004 04:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Best hangover cure I've ever had: Drinking chicken soup while listening to the entirety of Yes' Close To The Edge.

Francis Watlington (Francis Watlington), Saturday, 14 February 2004 04:44 (twenty-two years ago)

And dim that damn monitor!

Francis Watlington (Francis Watlington), Saturday, 14 February 2004 04:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't take two Ibuprofin. Take six.

jim wentworth (wench), Saturday, 14 February 2004 04:49 (twenty-two years ago)

I didn't take any medicine when I had a headache on Wendesday.

It just went away today.

Aja (aja), Saturday, 14 February 2004 04:50 (twenty-two years ago)

actually ibuprofen apparently doesn't work that way (unlike acetaminophen etc) - more isn't more.

Kim (Kim), Saturday, 14 February 2004 04:54 (twenty-two years ago)

more IS more. Rx strength ibu- is 800 mg.

Orbit (Orbit), Saturday, 14 February 2004 04:54 (twenty-two years ago)

DRUGGIES, YOU ARE TRYING TO POISON TEH NED!

Francis Watlington (Francis Watlington), Saturday, 14 February 2004 04:59 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm saying that I've read that more mg of ibuprofen actually doesn't *help* more than the smaller dose. I could be wrong. It has happened.

Kim (Kim), Saturday, 14 February 2004 04:59 (twenty-two years ago)

taking 3 tylenols vs 1 on the other hand, yeah huge difference.

Kim (Kim), Saturday, 14 February 2004 05:00 (twenty-two years ago)

hehe come over to my house little nedlet, i will cure your headache....have a pink pill...and a blue one....wash it down with--nevermind the steam rising from the beaker!!

xpost kim-arguing w/ me about anything involving pills is a clear sign of insanity.

Orbit (Orbit), Saturday, 14 February 2004 05:01 (twenty-two years ago)

yes. I am clearly insane. Bwoooooogaaaabooowwwaaaaaaaa!

Kim (Kim), Saturday, 14 February 2004 05:04 (twenty-two years ago)

one month passes...
Ow. I'm languishing at work. Everything aches, my head, my muscles, my bones, my throat. My nose is running, I'm having hot and cold flushes and I can't face food. I can't wait to get home, two hours to go then I'll be curled up on the couch with as many drugs as the chemist will give me.

Worst of all, I'm getting zero sympathy from my workmates, they are all treating me with suspicion like I'm angling for a day off. What physical symptoms can I show them?

Rumpy Pumpkin (rumpypumpkin), Monday, 12 April 2004 11:47 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm unwilling to sneeze mucus all over the place though. Anyone can do that.

Rumpy Pumpkin (rumpypumpkin), Monday, 12 April 2004 12:01 (twenty-one years ago)

i HAVE A GREAT CURE FOR HEADACHES, IT MAY SOUND STRANGE BUT I SWEAR I GET HORRIBLE HEADACHES AND IT TAKES THEM AWAY IN SECOND.LAY ON YOUR BED OR WHERE EVER YOUR COMFY AND LIGHTLY PRESS RIGHT ON YOUR EYEBALL.AS YOUR PRESSING THE EYEBALL ROTATE YOUR FINGERS ALL AROUND THE EYEBALL AREA USING AS MUCH PRESSURE AS YOU CAN STAND COMFORTABLY.iF YOU SEE STARS WHEN YOUR DOING THIS IS OKAY JUST REMAIN CALM AND CONTINUE DOING THIS UNTIL THE PAIN IS GONE WHICH IS USUALLY SECOND.

LAURA, Monday, 12 April 2004 14:14 (twenty-one years ago)

six months pass...
Actually the best headache cure I have found is to get a 'refrigerator cold' drink can (still full of drink obv) and press it to your temples and around your eyes. I usually do this with a can of diet Dr Pepper (and then I drink the Dr Pepper) and it works every time.

Kim (Kim), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 02:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I find that really cold drinks either cause (if I don't have one) or worsen an existing headache.

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 07:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I am in Xtreme head pain. I didn't bring enough to eat today. At least, that's what I suspect is the problem. At work, I had some cut up fruit from home which was going bad, some yogurt, and some popcorn. Oh, and some hot chocolate... I don't know. But I think it's time for me to pop some pills and hide.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Monday, 18 October 2004 19:21 (twenty-one years ago)

:(

Why don't you go home?

n/a (Nick A.), Monday, 18 October 2004 19:32 (twenty-one years ago)

i've got a headache.

Cynthia Nixon Now More Than Ever (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 18 October 2004 20:08 (twenty-one years ago)

I get headaches every day now.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 18 October 2004 20:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I prefer the cold on either the temples or the back of my neck.

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Monday, 18 October 2004 20:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey, Sarah DID go home. Cool. Now everyone else go home.

n/a (Nick A.), Monday, 18 October 2004 20:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I am at home. That's the problem.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 18 October 2004 20:14 (twenty-one years ago)

My head has been hurting for about the last week, i suspect it is a stress headache so pills don't really work.

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 08:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, I went home, stripped, and got into bed. My kitty even cuddled with me. The room was perfectly warm and dark. I highly recommend it.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 14:03 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm having my usual at-least-once-a-week headache that I have as soon as I wake up in the morning. I don't know if it's from allergies or sleeping weird or what, but it's fucking annoying.

n/a (Nick A.), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 14:12 (twenty-one years ago)

five months pass...
What do you do about a headache when you don't have caffeine or any headache medicine? Is there any other cure aside from an agonizing process of waiting or using a gun?

Ian Riese-Moraine. To Hell with you and your gradual evolution! (Eastern Mantra), Monday, 18 April 2005 22:24 (twenty years ago)

I take a nap.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 18 April 2005 22:30 (twenty years ago)

I went to bed last night with the headache, and I finished napping thirty minutes ago. *frowns*

Ian Riese-Moraine. To Hell with you and your gradual evolution! (Eastern Mantra), Monday, 18 April 2005 22:52 (twenty years ago)

I didn't have a headache until I woke up from my nap.

You could get yr drink on, Ian.

stephen morris (stephen morris), Monday, 18 April 2005 22:55 (twenty years ago)

i went to bed with a headache last night, too :-(

it was gone when i woke up but by the time i left work today it was back and i think my eye is going to explode!

tehresa (tehresa), Monday, 18 April 2005 22:57 (twenty years ago)

I feel like my cranium's splitting. Yummy. We don't have any alcohol, Stephen, but that almost sounds tantalizing even though I'm a teetotaler!

Ian Riese-Moraine. To Hell with you and your gradual evolution! (Eastern Mantra), Monday, 18 April 2005 23:00 (twenty years ago)

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 02:52 (twenty years ago)

four years pass...

Does anyone else get these sort of not really headaches but just bad tension in their temples, brow, and what feels like behind your eyes.

I used to have these kind of often a few years ago, which led to me getting glasses (extremely light prescription, used for reading only), and in the last week they've been happening a lot when, say, watching tv for over an hour or something. I can tell my eyesight has changed, but only very slightly, and I really don't think that's what's causing this, but of course I can't be sure). Even though they're not painful, they're extremely annoying because it feels like my head is frozen and I can't concentrate or read or watch tv or stuff like that.

Any information would be much appreciated.

Also, serendipitously, when opening this thread to post this, while listening to a mix I'd never heard I skipped to middle to a song that just repeated "release all the tension, release all the pressure" over and over.

Kommen sie bitte und listen to Kraftwerk (EDB), Sunday, 2 August 2009 02:29 (sixteen years ago)

i have that kind of headache - and similar pain (or not even really pain, or ache; more just an awareness that some portion of your body exists, whereas it usually exists without alerting you) in my back - and generally attribute it to having a job and the job destroying my brain. quit your job?

the heart is a lonely hamster (schlump), Sunday, 2 August 2009 02:52 (sixteen years ago)

I started getting headaches and head pressure about a month ago - I know the exact day because I have a receipt from my trip to the bike store. They've been going on too long and are significant because I'm not and have never been a headache person. So I'm going to a doctor after this semester is over.

bamcquern, Sunday, 2 August 2009 03:01 (sixteen years ago)

Anyone get them? Identified any triggers? What manages the pain?

djh, Friday, 7 August 2009 21:57 (sixteen years ago)

That last sentence should have been pre-fixed by "Cluster headaches".

djh, Friday, 7 August 2009 21:58 (sixteen years ago)

i have been getting these weird dull headaches if i wear my glasses too long, which is strange, because i think i see more clearly out of glasses than contacts? but maybe the prescription is slightly off? it's odd. i'm good for a while, and then i just hit this moment of my brain going "ow! time to put in the contacts!" maybe it's just that i'm so used to wearing contacts, wearing glasses makes the eye work differently --> causes strain?

tehresa, Friday, 7 August 2009 22:06 (sixteen years ago)

I have only recently and almost accidentally found out that my "your headache has elements of cluster and migraine headaches at the same time" that has also completely disappeared (finally! After almost twenty years!) by taking a beta blocker was probably
trigeminal neuralgia. (In short, my headache was like a claw behind and around my (most of the time) right eye pushing and pushing until it hurt enough that I sometimes hit my head against the wall to alleviate the other pain, slightly fuzzy vision during the headache, upper right teeth hurting and the feeling that I couldn't hear the highest frequencies as well as normal with my right ear during the headache. This on most Saturdays and the first day of any multiple-day holiday, but also randomly during the week, waking me up in the middle of the night)

I heard the term (trigeminal neuralgia) from my new dentist last week when she noticed I've had a lot of work done to my right upper teeth. I told her about the headaches and the accompanying tooth pains and she immediately nodded and said those words.

The moral: don't give up, some day you may find something that works for you and makes your headaches go away! (And if you're lucky you'll hear what you probably had from another unrelated doctor a year later) :-)

StanM, Saturday, 8 August 2009 00:04 (sixteen years ago)

Just wanted to ask again - cluster headaches: Anyone get them? Identified any triggers? What manages the pain?

djh, Monday, 10 August 2009 17:39 (sixteen years ago)

My eye keeps twitching bad

Sunny River, Monday, 10 August 2009 19:03 (sixteen years ago)

chesty la roux (donna rouge), Monday, 10 August 2009 19:05 (sixteen years ago)

chesty la roux (donna rouge), Monday, 10 August 2009 19:06 (sixteen years ago)
