Dante-Cubed (Sean3), Sunday, 15 February 2004 22:50 (twenty-two years ago)

#1 is classic, a defining 70s moment!

Orbit (Orbit), Sunday, 15 February 2004 22:51 (twenty-two years ago)

so is #2

jody (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 15 February 2004 22:51 (twenty-two years ago)

2 is a classic as well. I have "Orinoco Flow" by Enya on my iPod and I'm not sure why.

Sick Nouthall (Nick Southall), Sunday, 15 February 2004 22:51 (twenty-two years ago)

X-post, obv.

Sick Nouthall (Nick Southall), Sunday, 15 February 2004 22:51 (twenty-two years ago)

I have not one but TWO mp3s of Debby Boone's "You Light Up My Life" on my computer -- I won't even bother to defend this on any other terms than "guilty pleasure."

jody (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 15 February 2004 22:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Yesterday I downloaded "Gloria" by Laura Brannigan.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Sunday, 15 February 2004 22:56 (twenty-two years ago)

I have "We Built This City" as well.

Dante-Cubed (Sean3), Sunday, 15 February 2004 22:56 (twenty-two years ago)

I think I'm winning in the incongruity stakes at the moment. It's not even a guilty pleasure. It's like practice for being on morphine should I ever have a horrible accident.

Sick Nouthall (Nick Southall), Sunday, 15 February 2004 22:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Yesterday I downloaded "Gloria" by Laura Brannigan.

Pshaw -- I have the whole Branigan album AND the Self Control album too!

jody (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 15 February 2004 23:02 (twenty-two years ago)

1. Fields Of Gold by Sting.
2. The Aquaman Theme Tune.
3. A Howard Dean speech set to some kind of wierd, heavy ambient dub.

Al_Ewing, Monday, 16 February 2004 00:22 (twenty-two years ago)

1. Law and Order theme song
2. Longer -Dan Fogelberg
3. Horse Cock Kids -Sweatin' in your ass

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 16 February 2004 00:27 (twenty-two years ago)

1. Green Tea - Marissa Marchant (I guess I'm a masochist. Its awful)
2. Peaches - AA XXX (I should have known I'd hate it, why'd I bother)

and thats it, as this is a work PC and I had to clean off most of the mp3s recently due to a PC upgrade. I'm sure my old home one has loads of crap though.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 16 February 2004 00:35 (twenty-two years ago)

1) The A-Team Theme
2) Achy breaky heart - Bill Ray Cyrus (for a CD I made my my mum's Xmas present)
3) Tarzan Boy - Baltimora. memories...

It's not a song, but I also have a selection of Canadian Train Whistle sounds which were downloadable to prove to a sceptical friend that you could find any old shit on the interweb these days.

Dave B (daveb), Monday, 16 February 2004 00:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Bah. have now got the Achy-cacky-dance going round my head.

Dave B (daveb), Monday, 16 February 2004 01:00 (twenty-two years ago)

haha I have Branigan and Branigan 2! Though I'm flinging them both at a friend once I tape "Gloria," "Solitaire," the Der Komissar rip and "Mama." I was gonna say that Chuck's review in Accidental History was totally misleading but he did only endorse the best-of. Plus she's mad hot in the "Solitaire" and "Shattered Glass" videos.

I can explain all my mp3s.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 16 February 2004 01:06 (twenty-two years ago)

(and I'm giving them to my friend Alice because she plays accordian and NEEDS to hear Branigan's version of "Squeeze Box." Nobody else does, though)

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 16 February 2004 01:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Shaquille O'Neal's entire catalog should be more than enough for me.

Francis Watlington (Francis Watlington), Monday, 16 February 2004 01:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I have a song that appears to be sung by Jewel on my computer, but I can't find it to delete it as it is cleverly misnamed as being some other artist, argh....

webcrack (music=crack), Monday, 16 February 2004 05:25 (twenty-two years ago)

1.  Estrella, "La Unica Estrella"
(Um, really, it's for my mom. Serious. Honest. I could never have the occasional pull to do a cumbia in my bedroom. No way.)
2.  Lyle Lovett, "San Antonio Girl"
(Really only acquired because I loved the song's title. Naturally. As you do in a similar sort of situation to mine.)
3.  Some comedy bit entitled "Wild Rice"
(Hm. Fangirlishness? Granted, the impersonations are a bit wanting, but it's a sharp bit of satire and, um, yeah, that's that.)

Mellow Dee (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 16 February 2004 08:17 (twenty-two years ago)

The new N*E*R*D single - which isn't released yet and quite frankly never should.

John Inglewood (John), Monday, 16 February 2004 08:26 (twenty-two years ago)

I have "We Built This City" as well.
Go thou to the hinterlands, and return not, lest thou has purged thy hardest drive of the evil MP of 3. Thou shalt then repeat play 4 Dizee Rascals, and wash thy head in the Blood of the Valentine.
Rockist Robert Chapter 3 Verse 9

Speedy Gonzalas (Speedy Gonzalas), Monday, 16 February 2004 08:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Piss Shivers to thread.

Jarlr'mai (jarlrmai), Monday, 16 February 2004 14:45 (twenty-two years ago)

i was going to start a thread last night called 'okay what the hell is this doing on my hard drive?'

i've been purging a bit lately tho as i now have about 12,000 songs on the bastard, only half of them sorted and where they should be. three i can think of right now:

Ash 'Burn Baby Burn'
U2 'The Sweetest Thing'
Fluke 'Zion' (from the 'rave' scene in Matrix Reloaded)

i like the Ash one the most (drunken air guitar memories), i'll probably get rid of the other two in due course

stevem (blueski), Monday, 16 February 2004 14:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Avril's cover of Chop Suey.
the second copy of P Diddy's I Need a Girl
Robbie & Nicole - Something Stupid.

bonus extra track: Will Smith's Black Suit Comin' (Nod Ya Head)!

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 16 February 2004 14:53 (twenty-two years ago)

stevem, those are all foine!

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 16 February 2004 14:53 (twenty-two years ago)

stevem (blueski), Monday, 16 February 2004 15:30 (twenty-two years ago)

1. "Baby Mine" from the soundtrack to Disney's Dumbo
2. "All You Zombies" by the Hooters
3. "Damn, I Wish I Was Your Lover" by Sophie B. Hawkins

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 16 February 2004 16:07 (twenty-two years ago)

The thing about "All You Zombies" by the Hooters was prompted by needlessly heated and drunken debate with a colleague who maintained that the Hooters were a fundamentalist Christian band, the crux of his argument being the lyrics in this song. The debate continues.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 16 February 2004 16:09 (twenty-two years ago)

I love "Damn, I Wish I Was Your Lover"!

1. something claiming to be Bjork's "Aurora" that is actually indistinguishably-voiced girl singing bland indie rock.

2. the theme song from Friends (ugh)

3. Ginuwine "Pony" (UGH)

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 16 February 2004 16:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I love "Damn, I Wish I Was Your Lover"!

A perfectly banal "I wants ta sex you up" song beefed up via John Bonham's levee-breaking battery, thus brilliant.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 16 February 2004 16:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't be dissin on "I Wanna Sex You Up" now!!!!!!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 16 February 2004 16:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Pony is a classic. I have Still Standing by Elton John. It's a good song.

scg, Monday, 16 February 2004 16:23 (twenty-two years ago)

"Lucas With The Lid Off"--I woke up after a night of heavy drinking and high-volume metal-listening and lo! this was on my hard drive.

adam (adam), Monday, 16 February 2004 17:41 (twenty-two years ago)

it's great adam! (ok maybe just the video)

stevem (blueski), Monday, 16 February 2004 17:43 (twenty-two years ago)

"Lucas With the Lid Off" video >>> "Lucas With the Lid Off" (which is pretty a'ight).

The best Lucas song is "I'm Born", that shit is nice.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 16 February 2004 18:56 (twenty-two years ago)

1) Imagine - John Lennon
2) Where is the Love? - Black-Eyed Peas
3) 7 Seconds - Youssou N'Dour

Just listen to the lyrics.

natasha lushina, Monday, 16 February 2004 19:13 (twenty-two years ago)

The thing about "All You Zombies...
I, probably mistakenly, always associated this song with the Robert Heinlein story of the smae name.
And I have no questionable songs on my hardrive anymore. I started dumping everything to disc as soon as I can.
