When I was young/single/very single.. There did not seem to be quite the all-encompasing emphasis on Valentines day. If you didn't get one, what the heck.
Now, every damn program from Blue Peter (prob) to Richard and Judy to blooming Father Ted probably, is counting cards and laughing at the 'loser' without any, or with one 'HVD from your mum' or summat.
Obviously being married, I get one and give one and that's that. It must get very boring being confronted with it all the time though (I mananged to avoid the coverage mostly).
