And more importantly, how often do you reload it?

(This ILE phenom has passed too long without mention)

The new answers and the new questions pages are both a mystery to me. Threads suddenly appear with 20+ posts which all occurred on that day! It is really weird. Also, stuff often turns up on the new answers page with multiple answers before the new questions page.

What Mark is talking about used to happen to me a lot to -- I think greenspun has become a lot more stable as time has gone on. It does seem to depend how often it updates, though.

the database query for the New Answers page appears to be cached - presumably because of everyone refreshing it all the time! it normally updates within about 2 minutes though.

Mr Moderator - do you think it would be a good idea to reduce the number of days an answer is counted as 'new' (the default is 7 days, which i think it's on at the moment). since most people check here daily, maybe setting it to 1 or 2 days would be better.

Thats up to DG I think. My assumption is that some people will go 3 or 4 days sometimes without looking at ILE and so that should be accomodated.

It's currently set to three days, if I remember correctly.
