Everybody likes action.

Not Schopenhauer.

Yes. I closed the old account for security reasons.

Feminism. Who knew?

Prude (Prude), Thursday, 19 February 2004 05:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Ok so Jessica comes up with this elaborate plan to pass the IOWA tests by having Elizabeth pretend to be her, but what happens is that Bruce Patman totally finds out and then he is going to tell on them unless they get Enid to give him a blow job, this is all totally true, but of course Enid doesn't do it but then Jessica and Elizabeth don't even switch anyway, it was such bullshit crap leading on, god.

Allyzay, Thursday, 19 February 2004 06:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh and dude Todd gets into a car accident!!!!!!!!

Allyzay, Thursday, 19 February 2004 06:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Does anyone remember which number it was that had Jessica getting felt up? #8 or so, I think.

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 19 February 2004 09:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Do you mean number 2: PLAYING WITH FIRE where Bruce Patman undoes her bikini top in the swimming pool ICK ICK?

I hope you don't mean a Sweet Valley TWINS book where she gets felt up.

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 19 February 2004 10:27 (twenty-two years ago)

There should be a beating scene: Jessica beats Elizabeth with the school duck.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 19 February 2004 10:31 (twenty-two years ago)

That Patman, what a cad. Nah it was apparently straightforward her boyf at the time grabbing her thingies, in light of most of the series (well what I've read/heard about) it seems pretty SHOCKING.

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 19 February 2004 10:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah - there's a surprisingly big difference in tone between the Francine Pascal SVH stories and the later ones written by someone else in sets of threes - ie the MURDER IN LONDON set, the one where Elizabeth is stalked by a psycho who wants to steal her identity, the one where they work at a fashion magazine et al USW.

I remember Sweet Valley University being a total buzz harshener too! It was so depressing. Elizabeth was jumped by Todd and Enid and became fat and lonely, Jessica - er I can't remember - I start confusing it with FRESHMAN YEAR or whatever that other ridiculous US University series was, which had someone called KC (?) getting addicted to DRUUUGS and using her business studies project dosh to pay off her credit cards or something. Menk.

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 19 February 2004 10:35 (twenty-two years ago)

for the first time in ages I didn't have a nickleodeon.nl them tune in my head and you have now lodged the theme from sweet valley high in my head, arrrgrhgk

Ed (dali), Thursday, 19 February 2004 11:11 (twenty-two years ago)

poor Enid, they should have written an episode with a chubby chaser in it..

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 19 February 2004 12:09 (twenty-two years ago)

god, it's so weird how i'd completely forgotton all the character names but as soon as ally mentioned them, i remember all the details.

ooh! i read all the freshman _____ books as well. i think the series was cancelled by sophmore nights or something like that.

in hindsight, my addiction to crappy paperback books started at an early age.

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 19 February 2004 12:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Enid wasn't lardy, just utterly dull... Anyway, she was dating George until he started dating Robin Wilson who became anorexic and dumped him to get over her own issues - no idea what happened then. The fat storyline was there in the first book, when Robin was fat and the sorority crapped all over her. Power Play, I believe.

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 19 February 2004 12:19 (twenty-two years ago)

sarah, do you still have the books? you should bring them to the clothes swap and we can swap crappy books (although all the SVH are in michigan, unfortunately)

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 19 February 2004 12:25 (twenty-two years ago)

ha, i can't believe that poor katherine is receiving notifications every time one of us talks crap about our memories of childhood rubbish!

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 19 February 2004 12:26 (twenty-two years ago)

There is a certain charity shop in my environs that has a large Sweet Valley stash - my hard earned pence seems to end up there quite often, which is terrible. If I come along on Sunday I could bring them along - I half have the idea I'm doing something on Sunday though but can't remember for the life of me what it might be, as per usual :)

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 19 February 2004 12:28 (twenty-two years ago)

i think the series was cancelled by sophmore nights

Is this a Baywatch joke? Cause it should be.

christhamrin (christhamrin), Thursday, 19 February 2004 12:30 (twenty-two years ago)

no, they had stuff like 'freshman dreams' 'freshman friends' 'freshman rushing' and then moved on to the 'sophomore' series... and sarah is right, i remember a plot line about KC, who was the 'highly strung and motivated' one becoming addicted to speed.

sarah, you can bring them sunday, or maybe you should bring them monday to pinkpanther's fap! i'm sure she'd love it. how could she not?

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 19 February 2004 12:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Was there a Freshman Dorm?! The first one, where Winnie went out and got really drunk and made her room mate hate her? The room mate was... Lauren who WAS plump and preppy and her parents were forcing her to be popular sorority type girl when IN FACT she wanted to wear wire rimmed glasses and be an improverished cut off journalist?!

Man I want to read THOSE books again.

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 19 February 2004 12:58 (twenty-two years ago)

and wasn't there a 'zany' friend as well? were they all friends before they got to college, or was it a 'these four girls, completely different, live together in their freshman dorm, and become friends for life!'?

if you remind me when i go home in april, i'll see if i can find any of the freshman series books. there is a slim chance they have survived my mom throwing tons of my stuff away.

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 19 February 2004 13:27 (twenty-two years ago)

man i miss that tv show

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 19 February 2004 13:29 (twenty-two years ago)
