Taylor Parkes: Blog Revival

I'm so bored of the blogosphere. But BACK in action is the legendary Taylor Parkes, at one point the only reason I bought the Melody Maker, and now the only sound reason to maintain an internet connection. Boo-ya:

Someone make this man famous.

Nice to have him back. Funny - we get older and we start listening to jazz. Back in '94 or so I recall TP railing against the "chin-stroking Wire-reading idiots who think it's a good idea to listen to Coltrane at 11am on a Sunday" (paraphrasing from memory) in a live Laika review and thinking it was a serious misfire and kinda beneath him. Tastes change.

Doesn't/didn't Taylor Parkes sometimes post to ILM?

I was always put off him by his name. I think it made me think of Taylor Dayne.

Sounds rational enough to me. He has posted on ILM, but not too regularly, I don't think.

Here and there, yes. And somewhere on the board is my transcription of the interview he did with S*M*A*S*H.

Taylor has my undying admiration, if only for the time he tried to woo Er*ca M*cArth*r with the belief that no one in their right mind would give up the opportunity of the double-barrelled majesty of the surname M*cArth*r-Parkes.

Did he now? That is impressive.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Friday, 20 February 2004 17:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Was this when she was like, 15?

Truly, he was bold.
