What do you good-for-nothing bums watch on TV during the day while the rest of us are busy busting our humps here at work?

Someone fill me in. Besides soap operas, what kind of stuff am I missing while I'm stuck here in an office?

maypang (maypang), Friday, 20 February 2004 17:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Sadness ... depression ... doritos ... odor.

dean! (deangulberry), Friday, 20 February 2004 17:39 (twenty-two years ago)

That's one downer soap opera.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 20 February 2004 17:40 (twenty-two years ago)

The price is right

Maury

Ricky Lake

Howard Stern

Jerry Springer

Blind Date

and tons of comercials!

Aja (aja), Friday, 20 February 2004 17:40 (twenty-two years ago)

It's all DIY/house design shows over here, there's this good one that comes on Channel 4 at around half 4.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 20 February 2004 17:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I get stuck watching Call For Help on Tech TV. Although I miss Chris Purillo.

Speedy Gonzalas (Speedy Gonzalas), Friday, 20 February 2004 17:41 (twenty-two years ago)

i am glad i didn't have Sky Plus last year as i would never have got anything done in the day (daytime TV being mostly abhorrent in the UK with the exception of repeats of Cheers on C4)

stevem (blueski), Friday, 20 February 2004 17:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Talk shows about the different ways to burn water, and why Mum had to steal her daughter's boyfriend/girlfriend.

Trust me, you're better off in an office.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Friday, 20 February 2004 17:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I really kinda like price-drop TV and bid-up TV.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 20 February 2004 17:45 (twenty-two years ago)

(I don't watch those btw; I'm at work)

dean! (deangulberry), Friday, 20 February 2004 17:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Aja's list is interesting. Imagine.. an entire nation being raised on this stuff.

It's pretty great, if you ask me.

maypang (maypang), Friday, 20 February 2004 17:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Maury scares me.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 20 February 2004 17:49 (twenty-two years ago)

I've only seen Howard Stern once

I was on vacation in NYC

I changed the station and watched Maury instead.

Also you can watch Montel

I used to watch Jerry Springer all the time.

I hate the dating shows!

Aja (aja), Friday, 20 February 2004 17:49 (twenty-two years ago)

My dad likes to watch Cash In The Attic but he thinks the presenter is a womanizer.

Bryan (Bryan), Friday, 20 February 2004 17:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Game Show Network!

Aja (aja), Friday, 20 February 2004 17:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Mon-Fri, 10am-12pm

Mary (Mary), Friday, 20 February 2004 17:54 (twenty-two years ago)

oh the last series of Dawsons is finally on channel 5, teh episodes without Dawson are great, you totally don't miss him.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 20 February 2004 17:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I like to flip back and forth between CNBC and Lifetime. That way I can pretend I'm a dull rich man AND his sexually repressed wife at the same time.

The Second Drummer Drowned (Atila the Honeybun), Friday, 20 February 2004 17:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Mon-Fri, 10am-12pm

I just submitted my two week's notice.

maypang (maypang), Friday, 20 February 2004 18:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I was considering doing that today as well.

Bryan (Bryan), Friday, 20 February 2004 18:16 (twenty-two years ago)

I've been downloading tv shows. I like it better that way. Grabbing a lot of MST3K, but also have just discovered the joys of the Brak Show.

Casuistry (Chris P), Friday, 20 February 2004 18:20 (twenty-two years ago)

If I was sitting at home I'd watch the back to back Kids in the Hall episodes on Comedy Central, as well as Pardon the Interruption and Around the Horn on ESPN

Gear! (Gear!), Friday, 20 February 2004 18:29 (twenty-two years ago)

gotta go, Daily Show's on

Donna Brown (Donna Brown), Friday, 20 February 2004 18:30 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm listening to the radio and at 12:45 till 1:00 they are going to play nothing but Nirvana songs in honor of Kurt Cobain's Birthday.

This is once again my favorite radio station.

Aja (aja), Friday, 20 February 2004 18:33 (twenty-two years ago)

I think you should shoot the radio in honor of Kurts birthday.

Chris V (Chris V), Friday, 20 February 2004 18:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Grabbing a lot of MST3K

Is there anything you're still missing there?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 20 February 2004 18:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I think you should shoot the radio in honor of Kurts birthday.

I never thought of that.

At 1:01 I will.

Now where is my mom's gun...

Aja (aja), Friday, 20 February 2004 18:36 (twenty-two years ago)

is that live105 aja?

that station has weirdly become almost 75% acceptable again. maybe I'm just an old fart

anthony kyle monday (akmonday), Friday, 20 February 2004 18:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Since we don't have cable, I pretty much only watch the Ellen show. It's bland, but occasionally, she'll say something funny. Plus, there's always the chance she'll make out with some chick. If I'm really really really bored, I'll watch Spanish soap operas for a few minutes. But generally, I'll play video games instead.

NA (Nick A.), Friday, 20 February 2004 18:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned, I've only started a few weeks ago. I am missing tremendous amounts of them (as digital files; I have most of series 2-7 on videotape, but it's all old and stuff and I'd rather collect them on digital).

Problem is I don't have a DVD player, so I am going to investigate these 800Mb CDrs I hear so much about. Do they work with the Mac drive?

Casuistry (Chris P), Friday, 20 February 2004 18:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Grabbing a lot of MST3K, but also have just discovered the joys of the Brak Show.

You will submit to the delight of Brak kareoke. Trust me.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Friday, 20 February 2004 18:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Do they work with the Mac drive?

Completely!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 20 February 2004 18:54 (twenty-two years ago)

is that live105 aja?

Yeah.

that station has weirdly become almost 75% acceptable again.

They've started to play more of the older songs than just all new music. Much better.

Aja (aja), Friday, 20 February 2004 18:57 (twenty-two years ago)

columbo

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Friday, 20 February 2004 18:58 (twenty-two years ago)

my time spent "working at home" coincided with the sci-fi channel's reruns of buck rogers. noon to 2pm, i think. those were good times.

lauren (laurenp), Friday, 20 February 2004 18:58 (twenty-two years ago)

They're playing Nirvana now?!

They need to save that for 12:45!!!

Aja (aja), Friday, 20 February 2004 19:01 (twenty-two years ago)

repeats of cheers at lunchtime.

also, i've been getting quite into Judging Amy recently.

stevie (stevie), Friday, 20 February 2004 19:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Not as bad as my getting into Clooney-less episodes of ER (10 AM-noon, EST)

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Friday, 20 February 2004 19:16 (twenty-two years ago)

It's 12:45.

What a boring day.

At least "Anerurysm" is on the radio.

I'll watch Maury at 1:00.

Aja (aja), Friday, 20 February 2004 20:48 (twenty-two years ago)

I really miss watching daytime TV :(

jel -- (jel), Friday, 20 February 2004 20:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Videoing it and watching it when I get home just isn't the same.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 20 February 2004 20:55 (twenty-two years ago)

It's boring.

My grandma tapes the paternity test shows though.

Aja (aja), Friday, 20 February 2004 20:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm usually too busy either looking for a job, walking a dog, doing weird errands for cash or sleeping to watch TV.

hstencil, Friday, 20 February 2004 23:04 (twenty-two years ago)

still no luck with a job hstencil?

Aja (aja), Friday, 20 February 2004 23:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Aneurysm? That's quite an understatement.

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 20 February 2004 23:28 (twenty-two years ago)

"luck"

hstencil, Friday, 20 February 2004 23:29 (twenty-two years ago)

What do you mean Markelby?

Aja (aja), Friday, 20 February 2004 23:30 (twenty-two years ago)

seven years pass...

I work from home but am hopelessly addicted to news channels and depressing war documentaries.

It was a gorgeous day today, so I took the dogs out for a long walk. As I passed behind my neighbor's house (a widow and dear friend of ours), I could hear "Family Feud" coming from her open window.

It was the first time I'd felt envious of older people. I'd never thought to watch "Family Feud"! Might make me feel less anxious.
