Leee Majors (Leee), Friday, 20 February 2004 21:53 (twenty-two years ago)

conan obrien NEEDS to be involved in this

bill stevens (bscrubbins), Friday, 20 February 2004 21:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Groening's love for the South Park movie is wise and good.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 20 February 2004 21:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Man.

2 years ago I heard something about a Simpson's movie and I was very disappointed they didn't make it.

I hope this time is for real.

Wait. It was 4 years ago.

Aja (aja), Friday, 20 February 2004 21:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, most of us heard about this when you were 2.

dean! (deangulberry), Friday, 20 February 2004 21:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Reiss told the Website he could see Homer, et al., debuting in
theaters in summer or Christmas 2006.

does this mean the show will come to an end around that time?

My Huckleberry Friend (Horace Mann), Friday, 20 February 2004 21:59 (twenty-two years ago)

One would hope.

maypang (maypang), Friday, 20 February 2004 21:59 (twenty-two years ago)

the sooner the better

oops (Oops), Friday, 20 February 2004 22:00 (twenty-two years ago)

OOOOHHHHH FUCK

ModJ (ModJ), Friday, 20 February 2004 22:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, most of us heard about this when you were 2.

In 1993?

Aja (aja), Friday, 20 February 2004 22:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, I couldn't imagine what a picture above the shark could be.

Leee Majors (Leee), Friday, 20 February 2004 22:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Aja: In 1993, Matt Groening, in a caveman-era Internet chat, was asked if there'd ever be a Simpsons movie. He didn't say yes, he didn't say no. He said a film "is way down the line."

Leee Majors (Leee), Friday, 20 February 2004 22:02 (twenty-two years ago)

And with those pics, this thread just went from being a six to a mf'ing ten.

maypang (maypang), Friday, 20 February 2004 22:02 (twenty-two years ago)

But he didn't say there was going to be a movie.

4 years ago I heard there was going to be a movie.

dean! (deangulberry), Friday, 20 February 2004 22:07 (twenty-two years ago)

i am not into this. if they end the television series with the movie (as they should fo done with x-files) then maybe some good will come of this.

kephm, Friday, 20 February 2004 22:08 (twenty-two years ago)

It seems that many of the heavy hitters from the days of yoare are actually involved, which gave me brief hope that the movie would be not a horrible idea.

Leee Majors (Leee), Friday, 20 February 2004 22:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Should be good, so long as they keep it animated. I'd hate to see a live-action version of the Simpsons.

maypang (maypang), Friday, 20 February 2004 22:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Scary!

Aja (aja), Friday, 20 February 2004 22:14 (twenty-two years ago)

"in the very early stages of developing an idea for the movie"

so we're thinking of maybe getting some idea together of weather we should discuss the beginning of a plan to try to meet and agree on a time table to try to have some plans for an idea...

this movie won't happen 'till long after i'm dead¡

dyson (dyson), Friday, 20 February 2004 22:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Am I imagining that I saw the Simpsons on screen around '88 or so, as an opening short to some movie? It might have been a Tracy Ullman vehicle, and no, I don't think I'm confusing this with her TV show.

Baked Bean Teeth (Baked Bean Teeth), Friday, 20 February 2004 22:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I've had this theory that the episodes in the past couple of seasons have sucked because they were putting their real energy into a movie script. May I be proven right.

Sengai, Friday, 20 February 2004 22:18 (twenty-two years ago)

this movie won't happen 'till long after i'm dead¡

What if you die tomorrow¿

Leee Majors (Leee), Friday, 20 February 2004 22:24 (twenty-two years ago)

"i am not into this. if they end the television series with the movie (as they should fo done with x-files) then maybe some good will come of this."
My exgirlfriend (who's a super-simpsons freak, the nth degree) once told me that there was a contract somewhere that said once the series ended, a movie would be made. hopefully this means the series is on it's deathbed (not that it hasnt seemed like it for the past few seasons)

Felonious Drunk (Felcher), Friday, 20 February 2004 22:25 (twenty-two years ago)

It's hard for me to get excited about this when I haven't seen a good new Simpsons episode in years.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 20 February 2004 22:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I mean, shit, if Kids In The Hall and Mr. Show in their arguable prime couldn't pull it off...

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 20 February 2004 22:35 (twenty-two years ago)

this should've been done seven years ago. i'm only half as interested now.

stevem (blueski), Friday, 20 February 2004 22:49 (twenty-two years ago)

the thing is I think the show South Park is kind of mediocre whereas I LOVE the film. These things tend to be better when they actually have room to improve (for instance, the ability to show and say more in cinema actually helped South Park a lot). The Simpsons soooo don't.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 20 February 2004 22:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, I'm as depressed as you guys. It's so terrible that they are going to force us to watch this movie like they force us to watch the current season. Absolutely terrible.

dean! (deangulberry), Friday, 20 February 2004 22:54 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd like to see a life-sized puppet Simpsons musical on ice. Who's with me?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 20 February 2004 23:01 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought about that once.

I don't want to see it anymore.

Aja (aja), Friday, 20 February 2004 23:02 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd like to see a commercially and artistically successful show die a graceful death for once.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 20 February 2004 23:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I coulda swore I saw commercials for that once upon a time, colin.

oops (Oops), Friday, 20 February 2004 23:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Simpsons Musical!!

Aja (aja), Friday, 20 February 2004 23:04 (twenty-two years ago)

hey, i liked the kids in the hall movie.

dyson (dyson), Friday, 20 February 2004 23:08 (twenty-two years ago)
