Inspired by seeing Ned had just put the "Ponce... For a girl" sequence in the CIRCLE JERK thread, and wondering what noise he'd made to necessitate the posting of it.

I have two laughs, essentially, depending on how much I'm losing my shit. The first is my 'evil supervillian' deep+dirty gutteral chuckle, and the second is this kind of hysterical high-pitched squealing that sounds like a stuck pig in a caravan.

Some people laugh through their noses
Sounding something like this "Mmm..."
Some people laugh through their teeth goodness sake
Hissing and fizzing like snakes

Some laugh too fast
Some only blast - HA!
Others, they twitter like birds
Then there's the kind
What can't make up their mind

When things strike me as funny
I can't hide it inside
And squeak - as the squeakelers do
I've got to let go with a ho-ho-ho...

Too many years of clicquey injokes with my equally smug and superior peers have left me with a sarcastc bark which sadly is my laugh even when I find something genuinely funny. My tone of voice is persistently sneering, too. A shame, really, but y'know, I made my own bed etc etc.

Chortling: a quiet, dove-like sound.

Ned's laugh is sort of a baritone Popeye: "Ah-huh-huh-huh"

From what I'm told my chuckle is a high-volume Krusty the Clown/old-style Eddie Murphy hybrid that occasionally tapers into Muppet-on-LSD maniacal giggle territory.
