Men (young men, old men, high school boys, fathers of three...) in Taranaki wear short rugby shorts. They call them stubbies. Anyone who wears long shorts is labelled a girl. This is inexplicable and frightening to me.

nylon jogging shorts are the worst, possibly - the ones that are tiny to begin with but are slit up to the waist on the sides for ventilation, always worn by middle-aged male joggers without a shirt. EWWWWWWWWWWWW!

My favorite running shorts are 4.5" to 5" inseam. Not sure I could take that over to casual wear though. Might as well try.
